Women and teaching in the church

I like the one without the butterfly. I've used a prayer veil most of my life (15 onward till about 5 yrs. ago). We still use head veils during Passover celebration here at home: I have a bunch of daughters to train, ya' know...

Today, a deacon can be looked as a secretary, right? I mean, it's someone who executes the commands of another. So, by the virtue of the fact that the Pastor tells the secretary to do something and she does it, does that make her a deacon? And, if she tells others to do what the Pastor has said, as she executes his commands and relays the message, does that make her a deacon by definition?

There is teaching that the women that Paul was addressing when he said, be silent, was those who were interrupting the speaker and asking questions.

I have seen this happen in church gatherings. So Paul said, ask your husbands when you get home.

IN BIBLE TIMES ONLY MEN WERE "educated in the synagog." WOMEN WERE HOME EDUCATED HOW THEN COULD ANY WOMAN BE A QUALIFIED LEADER IN THE SYNAGOG?

I just thought of the fact that there are many female waitresses, too. So are they deacons? And, there are women who serve the President. Are they deacons? I think that the church uses this title without fully understanding its definition. It doesn't even say that it is someone called or ordained by God. It doesn't even say that it is someone doing the will of God in God's house. So, can women be deacons? I'd say yes indeed they can.

As we look at the context here, we see NOTHING about church government. What we DO see is the example of Adam & Eve in Genesis that gives this order to the husband/wife relationship after their sin, not before.

Therefore this particular scripture shouldn't be twisted to cover church government at all for neither side of the issue. Note that it said over the man, not the church. It is for family government only.

I can't give you a good answer, but, just because the bible does not mention woman as being a pastor or priest, it does not mean they cannot be one

Also, Paul is VERY extreme in his words to the Ephesus church folk, I mean, does it seem right that a woman can NEVER teach a man anything???

But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

Of course, a woman can teach a man something of Scripture. Have you ever been taught something of Christ by a woman? I know, rhetorical, isn't it . Of course, YOU HAVE

if man rules the woman, then where did women teaching man enter the picture? from reading, the only people women are to teach is other women and their daughters, how to be women and love their husbands.

God does not want women to be pastors it is clear as day in the bible and i am a woman

Deborah was a judge not a priest there is a big difference

So God aloows women to be president etc but in church setting a woman is not and ever to be a pastor even if she is brighter than the man

The bible says we shall be kings and priest

Does that mean women will be priest ?

If one understands how the gifts of Holy Spirit operate in the body, there is less confusion over these type of questions.

A question of my own. We all are members of the body of Christ. Not individual denominations. So what parts of Jesus would be male, and what parts female?

Paul was writing to a specific church and did not know that you would be reading a private letter to that church. That church was having trouble with the women. Because God directed what Paul said, we can learn from his letter, but if we don't know the people he was writing to, it is hard to know about the God principles it shows.

In Genesis it says that women are to be helpers of men, and companions. To be a leader isn't to be a ruler in the sense of a dictator, in fact a dictator makes a poor leader. If women were inferior or to be dictated to, they would make very poor companions.

women are rebellious (in nature, eve for example), thats why God left man in charge of them. nowhere in the Bible does it say women can be put in a position to be a pastor or anything of that sort.

so where do you stand on this subject, since it seems that it is debatable. i really didnt think it was.

Peter disagrees with you. "... just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction." 1 Peter 3:16-17

Peter said that what Paul wrote was scripture. This means it is of inspired origin, not human imagination.
