Why didn't Santa just take Buddy in his sleigh to NY, instead of him having to trek from the North Pole, thru Canada to NY. It's the LoTR eagle problem all over again!

last Nutcracker performance. Best one yet! on intermission at the moment...sugarplum and flute fairies coming up!

I messed up a little - I was laughing too hard at the conductor and missed an entrance. He gave a cue for the trumpets. The percussion player mistook it for his cue and came in super early on the chimes (which is supposed to be the clock striking twelve). His eyeroll and expression was priceless!

live music is so much fun!
 
There is so much snow here now, it's the heavy you need 20 minutes to clean off your car snow. It's beautiful, but oyvey, it's annoying.
 
One thing I really am sad about is not having kids around the holidays, there would be so much excitement and fun we could have.
 
Last year, in a fit of creativity (and um, after excessive Pinterest usage), I decided to make these long strings of Christmas ornaments, to hang vertically, at one end of my porch. Like a pretty, ornamenty, Christmasy curtain.

Pinterest advised using twine. Or...was it um...fishing line...stuff. Something other than thread.

So I used thread.

This year, I so wanted to hang these things up again. But when I got them out, wonder of all wonders, the six or so strings I'd made have now tangled and twisted and tied themselves into one giant ball. I spent half an hour trying to untangle them, before losing my mind and pulling really hard and making the whole thing worse, along with breaking off the top of an ornament....which then jabbed my finger right exactly in the spot where I sliced and diced myself with a butter knife.

This was all just a few minutes before tumbling over backwards off the end of the porch.

But hey, lights are up and on and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.

And now, partly because arwen mentioned watching Elf, but mainly because this is my faaaavorite Christmas movie...
...'tis movie time.

I watched 'Jack the Giant Slayer' last night. I thought it would be corny based on the previews, but it was actually a decent flick.
 
Why is it so easy for me to think that any given person's walk with Christ, myself included, is being held back by any factor other than themselves?
