This is exactly how I see the scripture. Obviously Christ said to do his Fathers work was pleasing. Of course God would not have your children go hungry so you could maintain the Sabbath. Thank you for wording this better than I could have!
Lexi, are you sure of this?

Heb 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Heb 11:33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Heb 11:34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Heb 11:36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
Heb 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
Heb 11:38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

1Co 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

Also, consider this...

Act 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Joh 16:1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
Joh 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

God does not promise a greased slide into the Kingdom, what He does promise is this...

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

For some of our brethren in the past, the way of escape was death.

If someone does not provide for his own, and especially the members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8

Not what we are talking about here. Does God allow one to compromise for their own comfort? Easy question, yes or no?

The verse you quoted is out of context. It is about the indolent who will not work when given the opportunity.

Your question reveals your focus. GOD wants us to have a faith that is willing to bear one another's burdens, not a 'faith' that presumes some meaning for enduring the discomforts of following the letters of law.

That is agreed , but do you agree that life is alwasy sunshine and roses with no trials? That God would never ask us to be uncomfortable to obey Him?
