I had gotten rather irritated with them over that fiasco with their old guitarist. I had felt that they took the popular approach rather than the right approach. That was one of the things that killed my interest in them.
They fixed that.

We crown Him with a crown of thorns [x2]
This is the end of a life that's been poured out for all mankind
In suffering, manifest glory has come at the fullness of time
King of Kings
Beaten and broken down why would he live like a servant
King of Kings
Descending lower now
Why should he die like a slave
The proud will be humbled, the meek will inherit the earth
The last will be first to inherit the earth
I know down is the way up so master show me how to serve
The last will be first to inherit the earth
The less will be first to inherit the earth
It should have been me
With the nails through my hands and feet
Facing the wrath of God
It should have been me
Left to pay for my sin forsaken
But in the blood I stand here
It should have been me
Born to die
He bore the fire of God's holy wrath on his shoulders
Born to die
I watched Him pour out his life as a ransom for all
And as he carried His cross on his back
Beaten and bloody, I saw myself there too
Because I've been broken by a world that hates me
But I'm not alone anymore (alone no more)
No one can take His life; He laid it down for me
That twisted wreath of thorns, yeah He took that crown for me
Then after three days, out of the ground for me
He overcame it all!
Now I live to serve Him
With stripes on his back
Betrayed by the ones he loves so perfectly
We spit in his face and we crowned Him
We crown Him with a crown of thorns [x4]

Mattie Montgomery is under fire again for the same thing their guitarist left over. Article Here

For Today previously found themselves in hot water when their then guitarist Mike Reynolds bluntly shared his viewpoint that ”homosexuality is a sin” earlier this year. He was soon let go from the band after making the comments.

At the time (this past January) band frontman Mattie Montgomery released an apologetic video to those hurt by the statements made by Reynolds—in particular the LGBT community.

Actively involved with his local church, Montgomery has since found himself under fire again for some controversial remarks made in a posting on his personal website, mattiemontgomery.com, where he routinely shares evangelical viewpoints and sermons.

Montgomery made a post this past summer titled “Homosexulaity and the Rebellious Church”. That post was picked up on by Metalinjection.net yesterday (December 14th) and subsequently removed from Montgomery‘s site soon after.

Many users have viewed the post as a non-apology to the LGBT community, with the following entry in particular drawing criticism from various readers:
There is more there.. this statement is pretty clear though:
So, with that said, I’d like to make my stance on homosexuality/homosexual marriage crystal clear: I cannot support the homosexual agenda in our nation. This is not because people call it an “abomination,” or because I’m some sort of homophobe or bigot, but because every argument in support of that act is based on one fundamental misconception; and that is the flawed idea that we should be able to marry whomever we want.

Crap, you're right.

Why would a band that is not afraid to have a clear message in their songs choke over an issue like this? Do they really think they are going to have a lot of secular fans with the lyrics they write?

My bet is no, they aren't. The lyrics have gotten more overt, yet off stage the message is couched in political correctness.

Well, they might have a lot of secular fans. If i remember correctly they were the first band chosen for the Vans Warped Tour.

I doubt they'll keep those fans with their newer material.

Secular fans don't really enjoy listening to how they are responsible for the death of Christ, or being stoned as a martyr for your faith.

I don't know. Some of these bands get fairly big. Look at old Stryper. In God We Trust had an 'around the world twice' tour.

I mean I guess non believers go see them too? I just can't quite figure out why, when the message is going to offend the sensibilities of the average non believer - at least with some artists. Many never really have much of a message.

Likely they either don't care, or don't pay attention. I've seen many people on Youtube say 'i'm an atheist (or other belief) and i listen to this band because the music is awesome, who cares if i agree with their beliefs?'. All kinds of people out there.

Amen AppleMelon I agree with you 100% on that Metal stuff. Rap and Metal music are not really music at all. Hey people lets get back to basics here. Give me a good old original song that lifts up our Lord like the old hymns. Amazing Grace, Jesus Loves Me, There Is Power In The Blood. Now there are some good songs right there and they exalt and lift Jesus up 100% like He deserves

This doesn't lift up the Lord? I posted it before but perhaps you missed it.

"Come reign here Holy Spirit." It's even more specific than a lot of music that just says "God" or "Lord."

Rrrrraaaaa!
Yeah!
...as in the days of old the Glory fills the temple of the Lord
We are your temple
We are your temple

This burning deep inside of my heart
These lips adorned with praise
My hands raised in worship lost
In the wonder of your ways

Come now and take your place Lord
Bring forth new winds of change
Set our lives ablaze with fire
Bring down your Heavenly rain

We are your temple...

Bring away the darkness of sin
Fill these hands with seeds of truth
Show the path and I will follow
Let your Spirit lead me through

This hunger taking over my life
This thirst for Heavenly ways
These eyes are filled with visions
This heart your dwelling place

Come reign here Holy Spirit
Bring forth a storm of change
Set our tongues ablaze with fire
Bring down your Heavenly Glory, Glory

You made these hands
Now take these hands
Lord fill these hands
Lord fill these hands with seeds of truth

Bring your fire down!
Glory
Fire
Power
Shekinah

Oh. Yes. Bar tunes with their lyrics changed are 'real' music. But original music created by Christians is not 'real' music. If you don't like the music, feel free to stay out of the thread and quit being a troll.

Here's another one. This talks about falling prostrate before God, and directly quotes scripture. In fact, the label that this artist is signed it is called Face Down Records.

Through storms and wars*
Take me into a new place,
A world so beautiful,
A city of treasure buried beneath a sky of injustice.

I am here, but I am filled with fear.
Am I ready or am I standing in naivety?

Send me out. Send me out...

Through storms and wars
Take me into a new place,
A world so beautiful,
A city of treasure buried beneath a sky of curses.

In the air the smell of death, the grip of fear was all surrounding.
The oppression all-consuming, overbearing, overwhelming.

I am here, but I am filled with fear.
Am I ready or am I standing in naivety?

(But the scriptures tell us that the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear,
But one of power and of love and of a sound mind,
That we can go into the world and that Christ will be our strength and our protection,
And that the sick will be healed and the dead will be raised).

Send me out
Let it be.
Send me out
Let it be.

I am your hands, God use me.
Send me out, out
Let it be. Let it be.

I am your hands, your hands, God use me...

A nation on it's knees will see the power of God released.
A nation on it's face will see salvation in this place

Or how about this?

It's not a suggestion you must bow to Jesus' name

All fear, all pain, all hurt, all grief, all lies, must bow to Jesus' name.
All kings, all thrones, everything that breathes life, must bow to Jesus' name.
The earth, the sea, the sun, the stars, the sky, must bow to Jesus' name.
Hallelujah.

Kings, crowns, thrones - bow down.
Fall face down - bow down.
Kiss the ground - bow down.
Jesus, you hold the crown - bow down

Nothing actually Christian, sounds as though he may still be holding to his Cabbalistic beliefs.

And i never did get to listen to it, but despite the claim this is a return to 'old Deliverance', so far 2 songs fall into thrash, and the next two sound more like the stuff they did post-What A Joke. Which is disappointing since they talked up this being a thrash album. I was never a huge fan of the later stuff. Maybe because it was Deliverance not playing thrash and it was a letdown. Same here. Maybe it would be better if i wasn't expecting something else.
But, needless to say, Jayson Sherlock on drums, the drums are sick, and the solo's are beast. Ok.. next song, another later era Deliverance. I'm getting more and more disappointed. Claims of thrash, starting with thrash, then no more thrash.. *sigh.. all that excitement and they don't deliver what they promise and the lyrics are meh.
