Playing off of Arwen's Worst Christmas Gifts thread, it would be neat to hear some of the gifts you've given, or received, or just heard about that really left a mark on you. (Not limited to Christmas gifts.)

Last year at Wal-Mart I was checking out and the cashier was talking to me about how her grandparents gave all the family members the same gift every year, and it was always something crazy. She said the year before, everyone had gotten pogo sticks. Grown parents, kids, uncles and aunts... everyone. Can you imagine them all opening their pogo sticks and trying them out together in the driveway that day? AWESOME!! I want to be that kind of grandma!

One of the best gifts I've ever received was from my younger brother, when we were teenagers...one of the things was this giant, squashed-looking, bright yellow duck pillow with these huge, crazy eyes...I still have it, though the cats (I. Hate. Cats.) have kinda claimed it as their own. And the other item he got for me that year was...

Well, it was in a tiny box. And I figured it had to be jewelry of some kind. And I kept asking him what it was, so much that he finally snapped and said, "It's a stupid frog! Ok? A FROG."

I thought he was kidding.

So when I opened it finally, there was a little, silver tree frog pendant inside. It was really nice :)

But I think he was trying to make up for the time I turned 12, and he gave me a tupperware bowl full of dirt and a dozen worms.

What a cute doggie.

He's probably on an internet forum telling somebody,

"The best Christmas gift I ever got was my first human.
But after all these years she still makes me pee outside...
I never really got used to that."

: )

Hahahaha hey at least we let him stay in when it's cold, and my mom cooks him breakfast sometimes...I don't get that kind of attention anymore :p

Belldandy and Urd were gifts from my parents. I definitely didn't NEED them, but they felt compelled to bless me with them. In turn, I've used them in countless worship services to bless others, so I hope others have been blessed through my parents' generosity.

(More Bell than Urd. Tenor sax can really overpower a small room, and even in big rooms, it can dominate a good worship band easily. Alto is much more flexible in small worship band settings.)

When I was 16, I got a trip to Romania, and my sister got a pair of Doc Martins. I stayed with missionaries, went sledding for the first time, and toured Dracula's castle where I fell down the stairs (miraculously not hurt). That was kinda awesome because I got to travel, then I got to borrow her shoes when I got back.

I've had so many "best gifts",I really can't decide....but one surely was -

A personalized autographed pic from Kenny Baker (R2-D2) from my ex-wife. Her best friends grew up with Kenny in their home a lot because their father was best friends with him & they played in a band & did music together,so my ex got a hold of him & he signed a photo of himself & gave me his business card with his home & cell phone numbers on it.

For my 21st birthday, my buddy got me a pair of wire strippers - minds out of the gutter people. We joked about it and said he got me strippers, but we would have both ran the other way if any real strippers showed up.

Same buddy got me my laserdisc player one Christmas. I love that thing, always wanted one, now I have it. He's a good friend, he also threw in all of the Star Trek movies that ever hit laserdisc.

I got a soldering gun for Christmas one year. That was pretty awesome too, even though it was just a stocking stuffer I use the thing as often as possible.

Tools. Lots and lots of tools. 1/2 and 3/8 sockets in SAE and Metric, box wrenches, combination ratchet/crescent wrenches, vise grips, breaker bars, pry bars...

My great grandfather's straight razors. And yes, I do use them :).

The best gift I've received was given to me by my sweet friends Catlynn, Shour, and Gracie. They made it possible for me to go and stay in Texas for thanksgiving. They have given me something that is priceless and has left me speechless more than once. Their friendship and acceptance of me is something I don't understand, but because of it, I'm learning to see things differently. They are Godly, wonderful people, and I love each one dearly.

Thank you for what you've done guys, and what you continue to do. Love ya.

My friend once bought me a flock of geese for a family in another country, the Heifer project. I thought that was awesome.

My son's 1st Christmas my husband surprised me with a new engagement ring. My first one was stolen or lost. Anyhow he totally surprised me, I had no idea and I had a really beautiful new baby boy that year, he was 4 months old then. But we really enjoyed his first Christmas with him.

Then next year I had a baby girl in September and we enjoyed her first Christmas with her too. Although we had to watch my then 1 year son and make sure he didn't eat all the wrapping paper, he tried. It was quite fun.

When I was 4 years old, my aunt and uncle bought me this big play kitchen with a stove and an oven and a little toy phone on it. The present was so giant, my mom tells me that I didn't even realize it was for me to open until someone told me! lol
And it came with a bunch of mini gifts on the side of little plastic foods to use on it. I kept that thing until I was way too big for it and the sun bleached the colors out of it. :D

Another year my aunt got me this big barbie dream house swimming pool with water slides that actually made water trickle down them (a swimsuit barbie was included).

They did not have kids of their own, so they spoiled me and my brother with awesome toys every Christmas.
