God gives humans the faith to have faith in him. But I refuse to believe that God predestines some for Hell, with no chance of accepting Christ and his sacrifice.
Tintin,

I think we're about to meet some Calvinist women...
and get beaten senseless by them.

Predestination works for me because man is utterly incapable of coming to God of his own volition. Even after adam & eve sinned they moved away from God. Man does this naturally after the fall so therefore can't save himself without intervention from God.
I'm with Tintin on this one--you're too old for the OP.

Ammi, I'm too old for you. Also, I like women and you're a guy.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Well, if we must do this, then I'm also down for a beating.

Without free will, we cease to be anything more than mindless Christian zombies. And I refuse to believe that God's will was that anyone should perish.

But I still say this should be done on the battlefield, I mean the bible study forum.

That's why the gospel is preached Tintin.

Just because we don't understand it doesn't mean it isn't true. Nobody is going to accept Christ naturally. That deceiving cloak of sin has to be removed first in order to see Christ's redemptive work. Does God do this for everybody? Clearly not otherwise everybody would be redeemed and the world would be a much better place. I've seen that cloak being removed and I'm sure you have too. If it wasn't do you think they would come to Christ by themselves? You could preach, try and convince, bible bash the rest of their days and they won't come to Christ.

I furthermore believe that predestination is part of Gods redemptive plan. Though it seems mysterious we will understand one day. It's the same as the mystery of lawlessness. Why did satan sin when he was already perfect and how did he know about it? I don't think adam knew about sin either. All he knew was he'd die if he ate that fruit and that he did. The first sin was doubting Gods word or instruction even before the apple was eaten.

Oh no ,this did turn into a theology thread.... C'mmon guys, bashing someone's belief system is not gonna help. Can we just agree to disagree and take this into the Bible forum if we want to explain why we disagree? I believe in predestination and making caricatures of what that means is not gonna convince anyone to believe differently.

Who's bashing who's beliefs? I just commented. If that equates as bullying, tolerance (the word has changed its meaning) of others has gone too far in this post-modern world.

I'm not bashing or bullying anybody. I'm just explaining why I believe in predestination. I also agree with TULIP.

The thread title is loaded. It was bound to elicit a theological response.

Praus: you mock me yet again :pPPPP

So are a lot of Calvinists :p.

There is a middle ground to this, as there are to many things. But this thread is bad news.

Perrrrrrrrrrrrhaps we wouldn't be here if this in red was never put up to draw a little fire, aye? And if it's there for fire (we don't know), I think it takes a mature christian not to bite on it & let it die........aye?

Praus pretty much mocks everyone. The only thing is half the time he does in such a highbrow or upside fashion that it goes over most of our heads.

I have no clue what's going on here (actually, that's not true), but I do know that I suddenly want bacon and stout. Good job, guys. >_<

Praus is the one Christianchat.com member who I would love to meet in real life, just for the pleasure of kicking his behind.

You know, with all the designer beers out there, I wonder if we might not see a bacon stout.

A man can dream right?
