Lots of words typed here are straight from the heart, people!

@Jullianna

Well, hello there..!

Funnily enough, the bible does say that good works are essential to both our growth and the growth of the kingdom of God.

Examples below:
The gospel according to Matthew 5:16 Salt and light - Let your light shine before all men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

The second letter of Paul to Timothy 3:16-17 Paul's charge to Timothy - All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teachings, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Thank you for providing this bible verse, Jullianna.

Allow me to add to this: Ephesians 10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Here are two more bible verses to supplement the verses given above:

 The letter of James has an entire section dedicated to the relationship between good works and faith.
James 2:14-26 Faith without works is dead

Based on the evidence I presented above, we may assume that both faith and good works are necessary to build up the kingdom of God.

Yes, Julliana. God is with us, so why would we need to fear Satan, why should we care if he rejoices? He'll be utterly consumed in the end times anyway.

Satan is indeed dangerous and should have eyes watching him, but let us not bath ourselves in negativity, for the devil's laughter never lasts for long.

The letter of Paul to the Philippians 4:4-7 Exhortations - [SUP]4[/SUP]Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, rejoice. [SUP]5[/SUP]Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. [SUP]6[/SUP]Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. [SUP]7[/SUP]And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

May the grace of Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Faith without action is indeed dead, but We cannot EARN salvation.............and I refuse to derail this thread with a works vs faith debate. That would be rude. :)

I said nothing of fearing satan. It is important not to add to the posts of others. I simply do not believe the children of God should be giving him reason to rejoice by bickering or becoming involved in fruitless merry-go-round arguments, as WE are the ones who should be rejoicing in the freedom we have in Christ Jesus.

Psssssssst! Works are the fruit of our faith. We are justified by faith, and if our faith is true, we bear fruit.

I was not finished correcting my post, thanks :)

Works/fruit are a natural by product as we follow the Lord, but do not save us. :) If we love Him, we will obey Him. :)

So much for my not derailing, but some things are important to clarify. My apologies to the OP. Stopping now. Peace. Out. :)

Ummmm...Jullianna has expressed no opinion either for or against Calvinists here, only regarding works vs. grace, and will be doing no face punching. :) Jullianna simply does not do "ists" of any kind. :)

God bless us, every one :D
I'm with Jullianna here!! No ists or isms, here. :)

Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

I love you Jullianna! Hopefully you won't punch me in the face today (runs away....)

-> Nicolaism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nicolaism (also Nicholaism, Nicolationism, or Nicolaitanism) is a Christian heresy, first mentioned (twice) in the Book of Revelation of the New Testament, whose adherents were called Nicolaitans, Nicolaitanes, or Nicolaites. According to Revelation 2, vv. 6 and 15,[1] they were known in the cities of Ephesus and Pergamum. In this chapter, the church at Ephesus is commended for "hating the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate" and the church in Pergamum is blamed for "having them who hold their [the Nicolaitans'] doctrines".

I was eager to continue debating with you, however, I accept your decision to drop the subject. We shall consider this debate a stalemate until further notice.

Faith without works is dead. But, hmm, what is the best way to put this?

If you have faith in Christ, you WILL do works. :)

yeah, that's it. The Holy Spirit will work on you in your life, just go forth and live your life and step out, on faith, that He will lead you wherever He wants to and you will pleasantly go :)

OH, I don't want to de-rail the thread so let me get it back on track.

Any Calvinist women out there?

OK, I feel much better now :D

Come on, bro. Check out post #140. I used bible verses to support my case.

I can provide more bible verses if we move this debate to a new thread.
Is it faith alone or is it faith + works?

Or maybe we can create a new thread regarding this, since the thread linked above is fairly old. It's your call.
Yes you did post verses but they have to be in context and the rest of what the bible says can't be ignored. The bible says through and through that nobody does good. Even our righteous deeds are as filthy rags.

We only do good works when we are saved by faith. Good works without faith as you know is common grace.

The good works we do determines our reward in heaven. Somebody could be saved by faith and not do any good works and still be admitted. It is Christ's sacrifice alone that allows us to enter heaven.

I think we should create a new thread.

Yeap, Praus' math is a bit fuzzy... :D

...sorry, brother, I couldn't help myself. :big grin:
There's nothing to be sorry about sister BananaPie--it's all my fault--I use too many idle words. My math AND English are both fuzzy...

Bump.

Our sister Grace-Like-Rain saw me on cam last night in the CC chat rooms, therefore Praus is an actual human person.

Praus has now been officially verified as an actual human being. :)

Praus is the one Christianchat.com member who I would love to meet in real life, just for the pleasure of kicking his behind.
Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
