The tighter you tighten your lips, the harder you have to blow, and you get different notes. It's pretty much a given that you will get two of the same note an octave apart, but any more than that in between or higher than that will depend on your lip strength and the particular shofar.
You can expect two or three notes all an octave apart, but not really any more than that unless you've had bugle practice and get lucky with a shofar that will do it. I doubt the people making and selling them put much effort into grading them. Getting the third octave will make you feel like you are about to give yourself an anuerism, if you can even do it.
They might fiddle with the length sometimes to get them tuned to the closest actual note and keep the size intact, they'd probably have mentioned that in the sale of it if that were the case.
You can find instructions on the note patterns for use in different situations from jewish websites, but I don't know if those are authentic or just what they believe are authentic.
I can't think of any where in the bible that it specifies a way to play it except the final "long" burst before the wall comes down, which would also indicate some other technique prior to that.
An interesting bit of trivia, if the seven shofars played while marching around the wall were all tuned to different notes, by our modern definition of tuning, then those guys could have played pretty much any songs they knew while marching around that wall, if they traded off notes and timing the same way a group of people play the bells.
I thought for a second that somewhere in the OT, there was one specific pattern of bursts given, but now I think I might be imagining it, or confusing it with other literature. Wherever I saw that instruction was long ago, and I'd think I'd have seen it again by now, but I haven't.

I found a church that actually uses the shofur in their service. The ministers, Adam Spears and John Klein believe that Christ completed and explained what God told about in the Old Testament, Christ gave a way to grow and didn't wipe everything out. They teach a lot from the book of Hebrews. They even have dancers at the service worshipping with the dances of David. They wrote the popular book "Lost in Translation". It is quite an experience, going there.

Would you give scripture to show that when the shofar was blown it was to announce Christ's victory over the power of sin and death? I thought that was done at the resurrection, not when scripture tells of blowing shofar.
If these words by this Rosen you seem to think are of such wisdom rather than scripture, how is it that he doesn't seem to know that the 4,000 years of life on earth the bible tells of was a preparation for Christ? He seems to feel they are, instead, something that interferes with Christ. He says the gospel through the Holy Spirit is important, nothing new in that. But what in the world has that fact to do with the shofar?
What a strange post coming from you. Many of Paul's letters include how insistent Paul was that it was what the rituals meant that was important, that he couldn't be bothered with them but must teach strictly by the gospel. And Paul only gave God principles. Any time I have presented any idea that now we are grown and know the gospel, we could use some of the rituals as aids to our imperfect selves to remember God principles in our every day life, and you have almost screamed that idea was only from demons. We open our service with blowing of the shofars. Nothing too terribly spiritual there, other that calling the Body to wake up and get ready to minister and be ministered to.
There are 2 basic types of shofars. The smaller Ram's horn, which is slightly smaller than a half-circle, and what's often called an African Kudu, which is a longer twisted shofar. We have a Kudu shofar about 36" long, tip to tip. I can get 5 octaves and sometimes a very weak 6th. (but I used to play the trumpet.) Obviously with a longer shofar, you can get a larger airway that allows you to get more octaves)
