I saw some posts from a precious person in another thread that seemed almost apologetic for being pure of mind and of heart. There are many of you with these qualities in this forum. I love that about you and I pray that you will cling to your innocence wholeheartedly and never apologize for it. It is a gift. It is as we were intended to be.

Some of us who've bitten the apple understand full well just how precious a gift it is and wish we could have it back. I am thankful that God is in the process of renewing us and giving us the mind of Christ. It's not the same though. At least not at this point in life.

I felt it was important to put this here for several reasons:

1. To lovingly encourage you to cling to your innocence and purity with all of your might;
2. To serve as notice that if you get caught up in all of the sexually related threads that popped up in this forum overnight, you will begin to entertain thoughts you really don't want. Stay out of there. Do what Joseph did. Drop everything and run. Don't test yourself in this regard and don't try to see how close to the fire you can get without being burned. If you do, you are likely to trip over your own feet and fall in. Just....don't. Please.

Encourage one another to remain pure of mind and of heart and do not argue about things that go on in darkness. Don't take your mind there. Please.

Amen Jullianna! That's something I could never understand...even when I was not walking with the Lord & that's why people would ever try to discourage innocence or purity in someone...mock them for it,or make them feel ashamed for having,oh I dunno...MORALS & CONVICTION.

I wish I never went down half the roads I did when younger. I admire people who have kept themselves pure. Great Post Julz!

There's a verse that I'm trying to find, I can't think of where it is right now, but it tells us to be naive to evil and the ways of the world.

Having an innocent/pure mind and heart is nothing to be ashamed about, despite what the world (or even other Christians) say. It is something to cling to.

I have been accused of having an 'agenda' due to my purposefully teaching of purity. I have also been called a Puritan Prude, which I rather enjoyed. :)

Thanks for this thread. It will definitely encourage some to stand firm in their innocence and purity. :) Such amazing gifts if one still possesses them.

Never be ashamed of your innocence; be thankful that the Lord has protected you. Perfect fellowship with the Lord and a heart free from shame are far too precious to trade for temporary pleasure. I admire my brothers and sisters who have made the tough choices to live in honor and purity.

I feel like purity of mind is far harder to protect than purity of body. What I hate is when people have intentionally introduced me to thoughts/terms/concepts that I specifically do not want to know.

Person A: (talking about something I don't know about but that I can tell is probably gross)
Person B: (looks at me) you don't know what ________ means, do you? (Smirk)
Me: nope. Don't care either. (Gets up to walk away)
Person A: (quickly and not-so-kindly explains what _______ means)
me: .......thanks. (Internally disgusted at this new knowledge)

this has happened to me so much and now I can't stand to see it happen to others. In fact, it just happened last week. Thankfully I was able to put an end to it and the girl whose innocence I was trying to protect actually trusted me and didnt seek further information on a certain topic.

school is kinda roughing this way

Maybe I'm lucky cause people don't really talk to me about stuff
mostly just talk to me about weather or church or sports sometimes
I don't really fit in to any of the groups though
which is good

This is sad but funny too but I started (with school permission an after school Bible study group)
So I announce it during morning announcements for three days
then on Wednesday when it's scheduled on boy shows up
I ask him what his beliefs are
He says "I don't know I only came cause you are cute"

We have five people now yay us lol
but the boy is still there :)
and likes it not just cause three of us are "cute"

I have no idea where I was going with this....
oh yeah it's good sometimes tonot fit in or that stuff
keeps people from sharing that stuff we don't wanna hear or know

Umm...one thing I'd like to mention to young people on here, it's not a good idea to PM adults online, you know? And please keep in mind that not everyone who says they are a teen online truly is.

Since this thread is about purity, it has been on my heart all afternoon to mention this to any teens reading this. Please be careful.

Keep in mind too that PMing adults can cause problems for them as well. One of the good things about the forums is that everything said here is out in the open for all to see so that there are no misunderstandings. It's a good idea to stay out of PM if you can.

I know you mean to encourage, but please, please, please be careful online. I've worked with online law enforcement and it's important to stay on your toes. Praying that God will protect all young people on CC. If you have trouble with anyone at all or if anyone makes you feel uncomfortable, please contact Stilly or Oncefallen ASAP. :)

Seriously, thanks for posting that, Julianna. :) I was once a supervisor on a website, and I said that so often it 5wasn't funny. But it had to be said.

Sorry, I'm not trying to suggest that sexual naivety is bad, I just found it odd (and at the time, embarrassing) that I was completely clueless. I didn't live a hugely sheltered life, nor did I just accept what people said. I understand that purity of mind and heart is something to be cherished. Thank you for your encouraging words, Rachel and Jullianna!
