APEST Women in the New Testament

He gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers. (Ephesians 4:11)

· Apostle - Lydia (Acts 16) - Catalyzed church growth and development

· Prophet - Anna (Luke 2:36-38)

· Evangelist - Woman at the well (John 4:1-42)

· Shepherd - Many women naturally fulfill this role in guiding their children. Biblical example is Mary of Nazareth who raised Jesus and his siblings. Mary appeared to do it as a single Mom for her husband, Joseph, is last mentioned when Jesus was 12 years old.

· Teacher - Priscilla taught Apollos - Acts 18:26

Lydia - not a pastor/teacher
Woman at the well - not a pastor/teacher
Mary - not a pastor/teacher. I have heard, although can't confirm, that in bible times, a child was considered of age when he was 12. Many believe that Mary herself was pregnant (i.e. a woman) in her teenage years. So the argument that Joseph isn't heard from after Jesus was 12 is invalid, even if it did have anything to do with women being pastor-teachers.
Priscilla - did not act alone, but with her husband Aquila, and certainly not as a pastor overseeing men.

Acts 18:26 - And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

One reason for all the heresies in the churches today is women in places they shouldn't be - as pastor/teachers over men. As the serpent deceived Eve, he has beguiled these women. The above are examples of how women can serve God without being pastor-teachers over men, in obedience to His scriptures.

Shepherd-Teachers are only part of the ministry roles. Apostles-Prophets-Evangelists are also needed.

The purpose of all the A-P-E-S-T roles is to equip common saints for the work of ministry. (Ephesians 4:11)

Pray to the Lord of the harvest that he would send common saints into the harvest fields to do the work of ministry. (Luke 10:2)

...every Christian an ambassador for Christ.

It's clear that this thread was erected without a thorough study of the grammer in the text, men don't exalt your flesh over the women and women don't subject yourselves under the flesh.Together reread the whole of the text for the mean. This tread opens up a can of worms and I pray that the Lord will give understanding and that we all rejoice under the subjection under the Lord. Ask yourselves who is this letter being writen to, who does it's address and what were the problems at that time.

You know I've have this talk with many people they believe what they to. but my own opinion I believe God will use whom he choose to use weather male or female as long as the word gets out. I remember not to long ago I was sitting on my steps doing drugs, then it hit me I'm tried of this that was my beginning of change. my sister told me about this female i use to be with. so i went their looking to do one thing, but to my surprise I walk in to her house where they was has Bible study. this lady Pastor told me things I've never heard in churches before. she told me about fasting without food. i'm thinking Hold up wait a min. she tripping a brother got to get his grub on :) but as i sit to hear more she told me about getting into my prayer closet but i told her but it dark in there they all laugh at me. but the more i stayed i start learning things of God through her ministry i was filled with the Holy Ghost i do believe God use whom he will use. i went to and out reach with some people. this guy who was with us told this young couple in so many word they got the wrong Pastor. when we left. i told him you shouldn't have said that i said to him here is two lets say 200.00 dollar bills they both give you what you need. buy your food, pay your bills. the woman, and man of God does the same thing if we stop looking whats on the out side and see what is God telling us we would be a people bless by the word weather it comes from Man or Woman. the same Spirit that is in the man, is it not with the woman too. to go fort preach God's word. so to you question Yes i do believe in woman Pastors.

No, I do not support them. They are not legitimate pastors. Only men are called to be pastors and bishops. NOT women.

1 Timothy 3

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

3 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4 one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5 (for if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 9 holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. 11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I do because I believe if God has lead them towards this calling we should respect it. Who are we to condemn people who spread the word of God?

As 1 Timothy makes clear, women are not to be pastors. The liberal 20th Century feminist movement affected the Chruch to such an extent that we 'enlightened' modern Christians disposed with Scriptures that were not to our liking but which had been consistently taught in the Church for two thousand years. And this is not just about women pastors. First we accepted unbiblical reasons for divorce and then finally, homosexual marriages.

Here are two excellent, biblical resources on the question of women pastors, free to download a the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

We can praise the Lord that the bulk of Christianity today still abides by the guidelines of 1 Timothy.

Do you believe that it is biblically acceptable to have women in church teaching men in an authority position. If you do, please support your belief with scripture giving examples and make your defense of the passages which seem to be in opposition to your belief.

And please, try to keep it civil. :)
Women should be a helpmate to their husbands, and that includes correction in private in prudence, and love in the sight of God for assistance. A pastor of a church is an overseer, and must exercise authority. A pastor can't hold that position if they have no authority over other men because confusion will eventually reign.

1 Corinthians 14:32-34 (KJV)
[SUP]32 [/SUP]And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
[SUP]33 [/SUP]For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

1 Timothy 2:9-12 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
[SUP]10 [/SUP]But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

It is good for the older women to teach the younger women.

Titus 2:1-5 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

God does not call women to be pastors or preachers. Period.

God will not contradict His holy word.

There are many places which a woman can serve in ministry, but the office of Pastor, Bishop, and Deacon is NOT one of them.

In KJV-onlyism, women have the authority to rebuke pastors.

Many remain ignorant because they are ashamed to inquire. Alas! that while the Saviour teaches so plainly the things which belong to his love and grace, men are so blinded that they understand not his sayings. We shall be called to account about our discourses, and to account for our disputes, especially about being greater than others. Those who are most humble and self-denying, most resemble Christ, and shall be most tenderly owned by him. This Jesus taught them by a sign; whoever shall receive one like this child, receives me. Many have been like the disciples, ready to silence men who have success in preaching to sinners repentance in Christ's name, because they follow not with them. Our Lord blamed the apostles, reminding them that he who wrought miracles in his name would not be likely to hurt his cause. If sinners are brought to repent, to believe in the Saviour, and to live sober, righteous, and godly lives, we then see that the Lord works by the preacher.

The whole business regarding women being quiet in church is widely misunderstood. In those days the men and women did not sit together, the women sat to one side and it was not for them to yell over to their husbands.

God bless!

Interesting 7 people (today) stated that it is unbiblical times but times are changing. Does that mean that God changes Gods mind ?

We are living in worse times now than then not better. You should be holding onto scripture more strongly now not ignoring it.
