I live in a more temperate region of Alaska, but in visiting other parts of the state (and on rare occasion here in anchorage) I have experienced temperatures like you've described. From your posts it seems like you've been in a severe cold snap for a long while though. :/

basically, I feel your pain, but I hope you can find ways to stay warm, friend. :) *hands you a fluffy blanket and a warm cup of tea*

The day I left Romania on December, it was -20 so i slept leaning against the radiator. I have never been so cold in my life!!

coldest I ever experienced was -36F with a 30MPH N.NW. Wind. Jan. 19th 1994 I believe the date was. unliked these weak kids today WE had to wait for a bus for 15 to 20 minutes in that. wasnt none of this "oh its 31F out gotta close school, oh I see a snow flake gotta close school, oh its a little warm and the school has no a/c gotta close school garbage back then.

In defense of the school closings, we don't really get snow in central Texas; we get ice. And Texans don't know how to drive when wet stuff falls from the sky (it happens so rarely), much less when it freezes over. Plus we only have a few sand—usually not salt—trucks for the sprawling city and surrounding 'burbs.

I was stuck in my house for 4 days in the last ice storm because my steep driveway was covered in 3 inches of ice. I had a garden spade to shovel it off. Even if I had gotten out, there were so few places that were actually safe to drive on.

yeah thats Texas, this is Indiana. where we can get anything from -30 to 110F blizzards to tornados. artic cold to Texas heat.

Thanks! Yes, you would truly know my pain! lol. Yeah its the Wind Chill that's killing us. We've been getting down close to -50 Celsius a few nights in the past month. Snow has just been cleared off the main streets from the last snow storm, and now we're suppose to get another 10cm overnight. Do you get a lot of snow up there?
 
My husband is lucky he has me, I don't think he'd buy himself a new toothbrush if he was single.
 
Guess what I have on my feet? Moon boots! Remember those from the eighties? They were my father in laws, when he passed away my Mother in law gave them to me. She still has her pair and she loves them in this deep snow. She's right they are awesome in this weather. I will carry on the ugly boot tradition with pride!
