I'm not talking about stuff to do when you have some free time and want to pass the time... Like reading, watching a movie, etc... I mean actually go out of the house and do stuff... Yesterday I went to the casino and played in a small poker tourney for a couple hours before I got knocked out. Then I went home. That was pretty fun and satisfying even though I was alone. I had never played in a live tourney before, just online. Anyway, off work today too but having hard time finding places to go and enjoy yourself.... Ideas? What do you do when ya got the day/night to yourself? Where are some good places to go? Maybe talk to people too.

Anyplace with espresso (and no alcohol) is my favorite!

I take my laptop and I already have like 30 Bible translations on my hard drive so wifi is appreciated but really not necessary.

I work out. There's a fitness center here that offers zumba and insanity classes, and I love going with friends or by myself. It's a good way to make new friends, which is nice too. I actually just got home a bit ago from zumba.

One thing I prefer doing alone is biking. I've had friends join me biking a few times, but I actually prefer to go biking by myself to be alone with God in nature and to get away from the world for a short time. It is not just good exercise, but also very spiritually fulfilling.

Here is a photo I took which shows the refreshing solitude one can have while biking alone.

What about THE SUBWAY?

Those streets and avenues?

I enjoy talking to receptive people... Sometimes "friendship" is smelled there.

I'm not sure that's "friendship" you're smelling on the subway. . . =P

Last time my son was with his dad, I perused the religious and fantasy aisles at a book store, took my purchases to the coffee shop, and read the first half while enjoying an apple chai infusion. Then I caught the midnight showing of the Desolation of Smaug in 3D.

I also like to go to museums, attend classes/lectures, or shoot things.

well if i had a place like that to ride my bike, I'd definitely take ya up on that one. Unfortunately, I live in a rural farm area. Lot of flat lands and dairies but not many trees. For my vacation once I did drive from Morro Bay up past Santa Cruz on the 1 and stopped at all the little "hidden" beaches along the way. That was very nice. Too bad I dropped my phone in the ocean or I'd have pictures to show lol.

Take my bag, put clothes and travel things in it and travel out of home.

I am made to live out my life in a way I can die with no regrets at all.

...hmm... If the trees to the left were not there, that'd look like my backyard... in the summer. ...just saying. :)
I knew I saw you peeking around a tree as I biked by - lol.

Good suggestion for a vacation, and I've done it... but I was thinking more along the lines of just something to do around town in the evening.

Truthfully you can do all of this stuff alone or with others...entertaining either way.

Open Mics! I like comedy/storytelling in particular, but there's all kinds.

Trivia

laser show at your local museum

Pottery/ceramics studio

Fishing

Sign up for music lessons

Watch live music or dance

Go to a bed and breakfast out of town for a weekend - if you're in or near a coastal state, check out bnbs on nearby islands.

Antiquing (I dont even go to antique stores with the intention of buying things, i just like looking at old stuff. feels like poking through someone's closet. occasionally, the owners of antique booths share some great stories about the origins of some of the stuff they've accumulated)

Find a scenic area of your city. arm yourself with a blanket, reading material, great food, and have yourself a picnic

I'm typically in the gym two or three nights a week, partially because I come from a line of men prone to obesity and heart disease, but...now more than ever, it's because I don't have people to hang out with.

I live in a small suburb of a larger city; if I lived in the city, I'd likely be attending evening salsa or tango classes...maybe swing dance. I've always wanted to learn, but not at a 35 minute drive each way. Classes like that could be fun: maybe pottery or painting or something crafty. Maybe even learn a second language.

My little stretch of main street has a wing bar and grill (not a Hooters) that serves pretty decent food and has karaoke on the weekends. I go alone, eat some wings, sing a little Billy Joel or The Police or The Cars. I only do that once or twice a month, though.

As a musician, I'm a member of a couple community groups. It's nice to sit together with other musicians and make good sounds.

And I have here. ^_^
