Have any of you noticed how many threads are devoted to the degradation of women here? The objectification of the modesty threads, the belittling of the submission threads, etc.? Again, I am not anti-male, and this thread was not anti-male. It was asking men to treat women with respect, if they are not already doing so.

All people should be treated with respect, women included.

Umm.. You CAN"T see that this is "when are you gonna stop beating your wife" statement you just made?

This isn't blaming all men. It does acknowledge that bad men are [part of] the problem, and good men can potentially influence culture with their words. That is all. There is nothing more. I can't help if you read more into it.

My post was that "Men are our greatest allies." That isn't that good men are the problem, but that they can be part of the solution. I am not against men. Yes, I have been hurt by some, but I have many more good men in my life. I have the highest hopes for the male gender as I am raising a boy to be a man of God.

I do want to raise awareness that abuse is still a problem so we can effectively reach out to the victims and perhaps stop some of it from happening. Both men and women are capable of hurting others. Both men and women can be a positive influence for change.

-> Introduction to the Jezebel Spirit

"
The very first, and probably most outstanding quality of a person with a Jezebel Spirit, is their undeniable, ever-present need to always be right!"

"
She is a master of the “blaming game,” and is extremely clever in gaining sympathy for herself by producing convincing arguments for her case, usually portraying herself as fair in her assessments. She will twist and turn information to better fit her, even if it involves lying and crying, anything to make you be the responsible or guilty one."

Ok then, college indoctrination it is. We know this by the politically correct terms "raise awareness" and especially "positive influence for change"

The highest hopes for the male gender? How is it possible you can't see this as highly insulting and condescending?

How can you not see that sexual assault is a problem that needs addressing?

I have gone back and read most of the thread, but not all, so forgive me if this has been answered but a poster back asked Misty what that thing is she is holding in her picture. Was there an answer to this?

Also I didn't subject myself to the video, as the whole concept that ANYONE but the rapist is to blame is insulting, condescending, and is counter-productive. So I don't know where this ridiculous 1 in 3 men are potential rapists stat came from.

I have no idea where the truth lies (get it!) when it comes to actual numbers but here wikipedia has the rape of men by women percentage close to the reverse! Not saying I buy it but it does prove the axiom that if you torture stats long enough they will confess to anything:

Rape by gender - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The avatar is Felicia Day from The Guild in her Codex costume. Kind of an inside joke that WoW players who are Joss Whedon fans might get.

If you didn't even watch the video, then you shouldn't be commenting. If you read even half of my comments, you would know that I am not blaming people, but encouraging them to be positive influences to the world around them.

And as CatHerder so pithily said, this has probably been debated to death.

"Warlock" and "Priestess", funny joke indeed!

-> The Guild - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The show revolves around the lives of a gamers' online guild, The Knights of Good, who play countless hours of a fantasy MMORPG video game entitled The Game. The story focuses on Codex, the guild's Priestess, who attempts to lead a normal life after one of her guild-mates, Warlock Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh), shows up on her doorstep."

Boy, you can't resist telling guys what they should and shouldn't be doing.

Since this has been debated to death does this mean we won't be seeing anymore "1 out of 3 men are rapists, abusers, or exploiters, and the other 2 need to preemptively stop them" Threads?

Where do i sign up for that deal?

i'm sorry, but i find it way too ironic that in a thread discussing "the culture violence" in our world that one might throw stones, even with subtlety and insinuation.

why is it so distasteful to want to help effect a shift of consciousness, regardless of the relevance to every single person who might read it. when the subject is rape and sexual assault, any hope of changing even one person's awareness is well worth any potential for people to have to read something that may not necessarily apply to them. ask anyone who is a victim of such a crime and i have a feeling they will agree with me.

i can't understand why so many take personal offense to posts that don't pertain to them personally.

i can't tell you how much i hate those cialis (or is it viagra???) commercials, but i'm not shooting up my television or mocking anyone who might benefit from their message/products.

just my opinion... :)

OK Misty, you have a good night. May the peace of Jesus Christ reign over your heart, and may God remove any pain you have.

What "culture violence"?

Nope not kidnap...gang-kill, from the river, after I got my red and blue buffs and you were over-extended. Its all from a game I thought you played based on your avatar. Whatever I'm sure you'll get over it.

Wow, calling me a Jezebel takes hutzpah. I'm not a seducer, I'm not a liar. And ad hominem attacks belie a lack of proof.

i would kindly suggest that you should ought to rethink the idea of opening yourself to the labels and the characteristics of what your behavior has suggested might be true about someone who feels the need to size up and judge another based upon the limited scope of which you have to draw on. one has almost an unlimited supply of biblical characters to draw on for that...

seriously? in a "culture of violence" you're going to throw these rocks?
