Exactly! The fulfillment fo the first of the two great Commandments is...
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
And the second is mentioned here...
Rom 13:9 For the commandments, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," "YOU SHALL NOT MURDER," "YOU SHALL NOT STEAL," "YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS," "YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
I bear fruit…. Sometimes a lot…. Sometimes little… but I have since Feb. 1991 always known in my heart and confessed with my mouth that Y-shua is the Messiah…. Sometimes it cost me little, but it has also cost me a lot!!!!!! The Bible says we will bear fruit, it doesn’t say how much fruit, but we will bear fruit!!!
Jesus said that the first commandment was to love the Lord thy God with all thy strength. Can you love God with all your strength? Not just some but all and all the time?
I should think if one is going to keep the commandments they should know them. The others are relatively easy to keep for the believer. Not stealing, not telling lies are pretty easy but not lusting and not coveting are more difficult especially because they occur in our hearts and minds almost before we can react to them. God is gracious and forgives these momentary transgressions but the standard for the first commandment is very high. I submit that it is so high that only Christ was able to fulfill it. He did it for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Not being able to be righteous in ourselves.

Amen to that Roger! Although God has given us the gift of His Son Jesus, sooner or later we humans will find a way to "work" our way to God's favor. It is for that kind of human nature with it's pride that God sent His Son Jesus Christ.
We accept the Good News with so much joy and relief. We are amazed that God would love us without us even doing anything. God loved us and sent His Son!! For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever beleives in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.. WOW. God has done this for me so He loves me eternally so unlike the people in my life, so unlike ME in my life!! His love is so different than anything we have ever come across! Total bliss! The Holy Spirit witnessed with our spirit that we are the sons of God.
Joy that passes all understanding.
Then later the more "seasoned" christians who have long since lost their amazement come and tell the rules. They say "you r in the honeymoon stage, soon you will calm down and be like us"
Like them... sour pusses baptized in lemon juice who r again under the law unable to get it alllll done.,but working,working,working and expecting new converts to begin working, working,working.. to come under the YOKE of the law that can not save. . Trying to work their way to God's good graces (when God's good graces were already given freely).
Showing the new christian how they need to "settle down" and be like them...worried, striving... jumping threw the hoops to try and meet the HIGH standards of christianity. When that joy and amazement the new christian had is just about all gone and he is again wondering what happend???? "I'm now a christian, atleast I think I am??? ... with the same worries, problems and issues i had before but now it has a "christian" label on it??"
Leaving that new convert confused, worried, doubting God's love for them. Scared they were never really saved or they would not be such a rotten disapointment. Living a life full of self and not Jesus like they first began. That is what legalism will do for someone.
Not looking to Jesus like they did when they began this amazing walk, but taught to look to themselves and how well they jump.
That is why it is major to know our salvation is sure because it is in Jesus finished work. It gives Him all the glory and makes us the recipiants. If you recieved Jesus Christ as your Saviour by knowing only His sinless sacrafice could be accepted., not yours., than you are now a new creation acceptence in the Beloved. Sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise. Heir to salvation, sons and daughters of God., Children of light, righteous because of Jesus.
We were born into Adam's race. For by one man's sin judgement entered so that all have sinned.... But Jesus... The Second Adam, we gain access into God's presence by HIS work, not ours., given all the acceptance as sons and daughters. Not to claim this new relationship is to live a very sad and double minded life. And sad to say many "seasoned" sourpusses have been just holding on to their salvation by a thread when in reality Jesus already said His YOKE is easy and His burden light.
To try and live by the law to gain favor with God is to disguise pride and live self righteous christian lives.

Matthew 7:21 makes it pretty easy to understand only those who do what god tells them to do will enter heaven. The book of john says if you love me you will keep my commandments. Obedience is the true sign that you're a christian. Preacha24_7
The Christian walk is a tunnel. At the entrance to the tunnel are these verses:
"He who believes has eternal life." Jn 6:47
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, and your house." Acts 16:31
"By grace you have been saved through faith, not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no man should boast." Eph 2:8-9
At the end of the tunnel we have these verses:
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. Matt. 16:24
12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, Phil:2:12
3We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 1 John 2:

It would be wrong to equate the beginning of the tunnel with the end of the tunnel. They are different. Most of the NT is written to believers, encouraging them to make their faith mature. 1 John 1:3We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4We write this to make our[SUP]a[/SUP] joy complete.
John is not writing to believers to get them to test themselves to see if they really believe, that would be condescending, illogical, and preposterous. John is writing to believers to get them to have true fellowship with all believers and with God the Father and to make joy complete in him and them. Having continuing fellowship with God and others is a journey, a process, and we encounter various obstacles and distractions. It's a daily goal and process.
Do you believe? That is a question easily answered. Do you have fellowship with God and others? That is also a question easily answered, but they are not the same question.

In our church today, we are showing that we blend in with all society in our clothes, most of our actions, our chit chat.
What tells me others are truly Christian is in the demeanor of peace and inner happiness they have about them. Others can be fun and happy, but the inner contentment and joy the Lord gives can't be faked.
When the conversation turns to gossip, you can always spot the Christian. If love can be expressed, the Christian expresses that. Scripture upholds this, for it says that you will know them by their love.

The evidence of a true christian is a heart that loves God's word and loves to obey and searches to do all that he is expected to do.
All others are timeservers and need to be born again.
Born again is to get a new heart that wants to find the truth and do the truth and be with Jesus.
That obeys without complaing

There is no christian on the fence

Christians know all you say, but that is not answering the question of what evidence is there that others can see that you are a genuine Christian. You are giving what it takes to be a Christian, that is good. Where is the evidence?
I don't judge where other people are at. I just keep on presenting the gospel and quoting scripture if I see a brother or sister who has gone astray. I also pray God will convict their hearts, which I think does the most good of all.
This is the passage that means the most to me about not being conformed to the world. It needs to be memorized by every new Christian, and used when temptation comes.
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers,by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:1-2

I am so interested in how we are to show evidence of our Christianity to the world, and watch others to see how they show it, not to judge them but learn from them.
I like "do not be conformed to this world". Thanks for printing that. But how do you think we can live apart enough that others can see we are Christian?
When I worked with a group of ten women for years, they knew I was Christian even though I never said so. I have often wondered how they knew. They laughed at the Christianity of the minister's wife, and based that on the way she gossiped. So the world watches us, I think we should know how to present our Christianity to the world without having to state that "I am Christian", but how?
They'll know we are Christians by our love. But I also believe that a Christian is one who has eternal life, that renders one with a certain stability in this life and a hope for the future. That naturally translates into how one lives, works, plays, talks. I know it does for me.
