I used to think it was the mother of harlots. but then I learned more about Catholicism, studied what it really taught, compared it to Scripture.... and I realized I was wrong. The Catholic Church is the most Biblically sound Church I've ever had the privilege to attend. Now I am Catholic myself and feel ever closer to my Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

*copying from other thread*
That is fantastic! I too am Catholic, and I love my religion! This just goes to show you, that most people don't hate the Catholic Church, they just hate what they *think* the Catholic Church stands for.

What is even sadder. is alot of people know all about the catholic church. And hates what she stands for. Then again, these same people hate what other churches who teach a false gospel of works stand for. Not just the catholic church.

The church I grew up in hates the church I go to now. I think it is sad. if they knew the power of God and what they are missing out in with all their tradition and ceremony. They would embrace it. But they want to be stuck in their holier than though mental attitude who does not go out to reach sinners. and wonder why they never grow.

Daniel 7:24
(24) And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

2 Samuel 12:30
(30) And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.

Before when a nation was overtaken the crown was put on the head of the victorious king

Pope is seen here with a triple crown Daniel 7:24 says that he shall subdue 3 kings. They claim to be able to forgive sins (blasphemy)

Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, "Cities Petrus Bertanous".

"The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and the judge of councils; the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God himself on earth." Quoted in the New York Catechism.

Revelation 13:1
(1) And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

I heard the Pope doesn't have a belly button and is a reincarnation of an old Pope. Confirm or deny.

Yawning. This all is tiring and profits nothing. Solomon said so well, all is vanity, meaningless, I tend to agree.
Bless you all, Catholics and Protestants. Blood Jesus spilt is to precious to degenerate it into just endless debate about "defending the church" so much for the gospel of faith, justification, santification and glorification in and thru Christ Jesus.

Thought that was what our walk is all about, Jesus and the finished work of the cross.

Come Jesus come.

Starting a thread like this isn't profitable at all to no one.

Shalom

I think the religion itself is...but for the most part most of everyone following it is sadly deceived, and needs prayer.

why be critical of a religion that has replaced the Messiah as intercessor by Mary and men?

1 Timothy 2:5, "For One is Yahweh; and One Mediator between Yahweh and men: the Man, Yahshua Messiah."

Its all about works and does not promote a relationship and in fact presents a different gospel than that of the bible. The church is the way and not Jesus.

the entire RCC is built on the authority of man, confessions to man, laws made by man, paying money for remission of sin, etc

Yep, that's exactly what it is. They teach that grace is ushered in through the keeping of the sacraments.

Here is an excerpt from William Webster's work: (The Roman Catholic Teaching on Salvation and Justification):

"According to the Church of Rome (Catholic Church), Christ did not accomplish a full, finished and completed salvation in his work of atonement. His death on the cross did not deal with the full penalty of man's sin. It merited grace for man which is then channeled to the individual through the Roman Catholic Church and its sacraments. This grace then enables man to do works of righteousness in order to merit justification and eternal life."
- (William Webster)

Also here is another excerpt, where William Webster quotes an excerpt from John Hardon's: "
The Question and Answer Catholic Catechism:"

The Sacraments

In Roman Catholic teaching there is no salvation apart from participation in the sacraments mediated through its priesthood. The Roman Church teaches that she is the mediator between Christ and the individual. Saving grace is mediated through these sacraments. John Hardon, author of The Question and Answer Catholic Catechism (which carries the official authorization of the Vatican) says this:

Why did Christ establish the Church?
Christ established the Church as the universal sacrament of salvation.

How is the Church the universal sacrament of salvation?
The Church is the universal sacrament of salvation as the divinely instituted means of conferring grace on all the members of the human family.

What does the Catholic Church believe about the forgiveness of sins?
She believes it is God’s will that no one is forgiven except through the merits of Jesus Christ and that these merits are uniquely channeled through the Church He founded. Consequently, even as the Church is the universal sacrament of salvation, she is also the universal sacrament of reconciliation.

How does the Church communicate the merits of Christ’s mercy to sinners?
The Church communicates the merits of Christ’s mercy to sinners through the Mass and the sacraments and all the prayers and good works of the faithful.

Are the sacraments necessary for salvation?
According to the way God has willed that we be saved the sacraments are necessary for salvation

(John Hardon, The Question and Answer Catholic Catechism (Garden City: Image, 1981), Questions # 401, 402, 461, 462, 1119).

legalisim is based upon a mans own works being the saving force and not the Messiah.

Thing is most people in our modern day aka the mystery of iniquity call obedience legalisim.

Scripture does not agree:

Revelation 12:17, "And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went to make war with those who forsook her seed; her seed being those who keep the Laws of Yahweh, and have the testimony of Yahshua Messiah."

Revelation 14:12, "In this manner are the saints purified--by keeping the Laws of Yahweh, in conformity with the faith in Yahshua Messiah."

Yaaqob 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

Faith + no works = dead

Works + no faith = dead

We need faith and works, AND OUR FAITH HAS TO BE POINTED AT THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Titus 1:16, "They profess that they know Yahweh, but by their works they deny Him--being abominable, disobedient, and to every righteous work, reprobate."

2 Timothy 3:5, "Having a form of holiness, but denying the authority of it--from such turn away!"

Read the many woes in Matthew 23. I know it's talking of the scribes and pharisees of old, but when I read them I also see it referencing the same types of religious folk that we see today. Nothing changes.

Matthew 23....

For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’

Don't be deceived my brother. Roman Catholics are not Christians. They practice and believe things that are not in the bible. They use real wine in their communion services.I have a big problem with that. Priests raping and having sex with little boys because they won't let the priests get married. Praying to the virgin Mary is wrong. God says that you're only supposed to pray to him. Roman catholic church is a cult. Cults are false religious groups. Many catholics will die and go to hell unless they leave the catholic church and convert to true Christianity. I will be praying for you, Cuz I don't want you to be deceived anymore preacha 24_7
