[SUP]11 [/SUP]“How blessed you are when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of vicious lies about you because you follow me! [SUP]12 [/SUP]Rejoice, be glad, because your reward in heaven is great — they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]“You are salt for the Land. But if salt becomes tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except being thrown out for people to trample on.

[SUP]14 [/SUP]“You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Likewise, when people light a lamp, they don’t cover it with a bowl but put it on a lampstand, so that it shines for everyone in the house. [SUP]16 [/SUP]In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

[SUP]17 [/SUP]“Don’t think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete. [SUP]18 [/SUP]Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah — not until everything that must happen has happened. [SUP]19 [/SUP]So whoever disobeys the least of these mitzvot and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever obeys them and so teaches will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. [SUP]20 [/SUP]For I tell you that unless your righteousness is far greater than that of the Torah-teachers and P’rushim, you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

According to the Jewish Virtual Library, the United States was first, and I quote: ”The United States was the first country to recognize Israel when President Harry Truman granted de-facto recognition eleven minutes after the proclamation of independence. Three days later, the USSR granted Israel de-jure recognition. Nearly a year after its creation, on May 11, 1949, Israel was admitted as the 59th member of the United Nations.

Like I said, I could be wrong and had based my statement on the below. No biggie as a man that can't admit he is wrong on something is a fool. :) Thanks for the post and correction.

On 29 November 1947, the United Nations General Assembly recommended the adoption and implementation of the partition plan of Mandatory Palestine. On 14 May 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the Executive Head of the World Zionist Organization[SUP][9][/SUP] and president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, declared "the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz Israel, to be known as the State of Israel," a state independent upon the termination of the British Mandate for Palestine, 15 May 1948.[SUP]

The British mandate for Palestine was a two state solution. Which would recognize Israel as a legitimate state. [/SUP]

You're welcome. And thank you for being an example to others manifesting humility as our Lord requires.

Galatians is speaking of the PROMISE.

I'm not trying to say any more than what I have said. I studied this at God's prompting and I am sharing what He gave me for the benefit of any who want to learn. Knowing how things go in these forums, I figured it was worth the headache of contending with those whose day is not complete without arguing so that the few can learn if they want to.

If you don't like to be questioned, you are in the wrong internet room. Not even Paul minded when the jews "searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
Perhaps you might avoid some scrutiny if you were clearer about what you are saying, and if not, you shouldn't be irritated when someone asks for clarification.

[SUP]47 [/SUP]And if you are friendly only to your friends, are you doing anything out of the ordinary? Even the Goyim do that! [SUP]48 [/SUP]Therefore, be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Let me get this straight: It is wrong for me to question a statement or ask for clarification? Want to point out where in the bible it tells you that?
If Paul were here, I would even question him to make sure he was who he said he was. :)

Being a person that is somewhat your senior, could I suggest a train of thought for you? Judging in a way that exemplifies condemnation to a small extent is not appropriate for fellow believers in the Word of truth. I personally don’t think this woman is in the wrong room for it is for Bible discussion concerning covenant. When you are saying the Paul didn’t mind the “Jews” searching the scriptures daily, I must remind you that it was people from Greece (Gentiles) in the town of Berea. I will quote; They didn’t argue with Paul, they went to the scriptures, being the Old Testament as we know it today, and confirmed what they had heard from Paul.

Acts 17:11-12 (KJV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

One more reminder is that we are to mark the people who cause divisions. I detect that you are a divisive person, for it was not the OP that did any sort of attack in order to divide. If we, as Christians, do not have the mind to edify in unity, there is something very wrong. To conclude my exhortation, I suggest for you to add to the conversation with prudence. I know that many think that arguing, and causing arguments are the way to come to the truth. This frame of mind is found nowhere in the Bible as something approved by God. It is obvious that you are unlearned in many things so I will do what I can to help for the purpose of coming together and being agreeable step by step. If you want to know what this woman is saying, because you don’t understand, be humble enough to ask for clarity rather than show an attitude that you know so much more than she does. Maybe you do, but your approach gives me the impression that you want to dispute rather than see the truth she is attempting to share. You have degraded yourself with others that have read your comments, and I am saddened for that. If you see a discrepancy follow this scripture and we all will learn the truth step by step.

Ephesians 4:2-3 (KJV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP]With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

As I mentioned. The Bereans went to the scriptures to confirm the truth. I read nowhere that they questioned what Paul was saying before they did that. If you would question Paul, then you are not following suit with the Bereans, and they were declared as noble. Do it the Bible way instead of your way. Please.

One more thing Phil. I wouldn't blame this gal, (justus2) for putting you on ignore, and then you will get no response from her because she won't see your comments. Your questions then, will go unheeded, and you will learn nothing. You'll be forced to criticize without being recognized. You'll be in a world all by yourself. That's not what should happen for your edification. That would make me feel bad.

Historically, two parties sharing a lick of salt meant they were binding themselves to one another in greatest loyalty and honesty, to the point of suffering death rather than break the covenant. The truces made, the friendships and treaties sealed this way, were never taken lightly. Even the physical properties of salt echo the seriousness of a covenant made with it because it is, among other things, a preservative that prevents decay and corruption. Salt represented purification and symbolized enduring friendship, honesty, and loyalty to the ancient Hebrews.

Bringing the Salt Covenant from Bible times into our time, Dr. Trumbull, considered by scholars to be the greatest authority on Covenant making, says Jesus was talking about covenants in Matthew 5:13 – taken literally, Jesus was saying that we are God’s expression of covenant. "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.” (NAS)

I was so impressed when I found this out! Also, a small sack of salt was kept by the Hebrews. When they bound a contract, the two parties would each empty the sack of salt and stir the salt together, then replace it in the sack. To break the contract, the grains of salt would need to be separated to be put back as they were, couldn't be done.

Also, used salt wasn't thrown away but used on the roads so they would be free of weeds. Then the salt was useless as salt for food any more and was trampled under foot.

I learned so much as I studied this that I had a hard time making the thread contents brief enough so people would read it I could easily have gone into much more, but I'm trying not to be long-winded in my old age :p

just-us-2, I hope you aren't saying that Galatians 3:14 is telling us that we should be under Abrahams covenant, which is old testament law.

Through faith being the key. Yes a covenant is a contract with God. I have said that many times, and yes if we break it, it becomes void.
Just so you know the biblical meaning of faith. You can have faith that every word of scripture, new and old testament is true words of God, but if that faith isn't enough that you can act on it, it isn't worth a plugged nickel, it is dead as scripture tells us.

Acts 17:10,11

[SUP] [/SUP]These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Searched the scriptures daily
..........because there was a question in their mind about what he said and they wanted to be sure. Is that so hard to understand?
If someone is not interested in having "meat", they should stay out of conservations that involve it. Milk is fine for most folks, but I have no intention of shying away from discussing bible truth. If someone is wary of where they stand with the word of God, they should be hesitant to make absloute statements.

Tell me what is the "bible way" and how am I not doing it correctly?

I am the tree. So bark up another one.

So, you have a direct line to I AM? I am doing you a favor and telling you that line is broken – He would never tell you to be so hateful and rude to others. It is not His way.
Now where is that "ignore" button?

It is my understanding that you are reading Paul as telling us that because God gives us grace, and we receive that grace through Christ, then we must not listen to law, is that correct?

I think a more accurate reading of what Paul is saying is that the law shows us what kills us, and we are not under that sentence of death by the law because we have Christ. That is completely different from saying not to listen to law, it has nothing to do with us.

Again, while faith is absolutely necessary, we have to know it is dead without being able to personally rely on God enough that our actions follow through with that faith.

So by adding, and not neglecting verse 12 we see Jews and Gentiles together. This is the way to agree and edify each other.

The Bible way is going to the Word first with the presented scripture endorsed. If you are used to chewing meat that question would have never needed to be asked.

It's good that you go to the scriptures first, and ask questions later for clarification if you can't understand the scriptures. If you have meat, share it. Now let us take a peek at the Bible discussions starting with directline2iam and including yours.

The phrase separation of church and state is only that, a phrase. Our constitution doesn't pull us away from the principles we stand for, it simply says we have the freedom from the state not to be governed by them in our choice or belief in what ever religion. And that choice was made long before 1948.

You aren't making much sense...and look at us now. Don't know about you but I can still go to any denominational church freely and believe in God the way I wish.

It appeared to me that the phrase was being used in the OP to relate to the truth of the constitution being misrepresented, not the constitution pulls us away. The phrase of “separation of church and state” is not in the first amendment. There is some meat for you two to chew on since you have a good set of teeth.

You really should re read what you post and correct it before you let your mistakes fly, I know what I read and I responded accordingly. So bark up a different tree, this one's taken.

Your second post here indicates that you don't understand the meat of the OP. So what specifically are you asking, or are you just telling for the sake of argument without knowing what is being said? You leave the impression that you are the author telling a person to read what they already wrote.. Tables turned on purpose are they? If you're in the tree of the person that started the OP why are you trying to take it over. This one's taken. Go somewhere else.

just-us-2, I hope you aren't saying that Galatians 3:14 is telling us that we should be under Abrahams covenant, which is old testament law.
Through faith being the key. Yes a covenant is a contract with God. I have said that many times, and yes if we break it, it becomes void.

Your post assumes something that was never said, or is even the subject, but you are ready to pounce if you think you have opportunity. Post #22 things seem to be coming together again, and that is good.

This goes back to asking questions after searching the scriptures. The Bible covenant is being discussed . You have opportunity to report the abuse, but then if this keeps up I might report you as being divisive.

Let me get this straight: It is wrong for me to question a statement or ask for clarification? Want to point out where in the bible it tells you that?
If Paul were here, I would even question him to make sure he was who he said he was. :)

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know when questions are sincere or leading.

I am the tree. So bark up another one.

And finally we see you higher than we are, but much to our chagrin we can only see your back side.

Most of us probably never even looked at our salvation as a covenant with God but we enter into Covenant when we proclaim ourselves to be “saved” or a “believer or “a Christian” or simply a “follower of Christ.”
.
You do not understand covenant. Just because you proclaim yourself as being saved, Christian or a believer does not mean you entered into an agreement with God. A covenant (contract) must be ratified by both parties and no one can force God to ratify an agreement just because they think they are saved.

And when you say, “or simply a ‘follower of Christ’.” Following Christ is not “simply” (simple) whereas proclaiming to be saved, a believer or a Christian is simple. Many proclaim to be saved, a believer or a Christian but are not a “follower of Christ”,

Just to clarify the truth about the constitution of the United Sates.
Amendment I
*Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It seems some people are not aware that the phrase *“separation of church and state” is NOT in the constitution of the United States. This was made very clear to me when I read the OP. The government has made, and condoned many laws concerning religion, and that is forbidden in the constitution. They are not to restrict, or “prohibit the exercise,” and the church has done very little to petition “grievances” because they are basically unaware of the truth thereof. What about the majority of Christians who like celebrating the birth of Christ, and the displaying of the Ten Commandments, and the nativity etc? Do the courts have the right to take sides? NO!!! The government has the obligation to protect our borders, support the military to protect our freedom, and keep the peace. They have no right to interfere with law-abiding citizens.

Our forefathers never wanted the Bible taken out of the public sector. If that were not their priority it would not have been the first thing in the bill of rights. And then we argue amongst ourselves because we can’t understand something that we are not aware of. Sad news to me. Wake up America! Wake up God’s children!
