Now that I've nailed it, I can run from it.
One or two of you here need to hear this.
When you see a girl, and that positive feeling starts to swell up near your heart, somewhere above your heart and towards the left...
That feeling like you want to keep looking at her.
RUN.
THAT'S WHEN YOU TURN AROUND AND RUN.
SO RUN.

If a girl's too attractive, JUST RUN. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

This has been a public service announcement from CYPHERCAT BBS OUTREACH SYSTEMS.

This is dumb.

When I see a girl and I feel good inside like I should approach, I should run?

Am I married? no.

Is she single? probably-ish.

Now I'm not just going to keep looking at her, unless I'm fishing for eye contact, cause I'm not a weirdo.

I mean there's gotta be something in her eyes, or the way she walks, or her smile, or something that tells me that she is not only different but, just.... yeah.

what most girls look like.... "meh"

To which I respond with a....... nope.

But some are different-er than others.....

Different-er is good.

I have to agree with Liamson. The OP is essentially saying that if you're attracted to someone, you need to run away. Strange. No one would ever marry and the species would die out, if that were the case. :) Lust, however, is a different dime altogether and, yes, we must flee lust and sexual immorality. But attraction? Nope. I don't see that in the Bible.

Unless the OP was referring to lust, in which case, yes, run. :)

Well if you look at the thread title then yes it's about looking at attractive women and lusting. Covetousness/lusting either way run from it.

I too like to keep things at eye level.

Just easier. And you're not lying when you tell a woman you really like her eyes. Like girl, your eyes are hawt!

You know there is a lot more to covetousness and this whole conversation than lust.

My brain's higher functions and filters are jacked up cause I'm pretty sick right now BUT....

I discovered a fascinating video that I shared with Jullianna a while back. I'm not going to imbed it but I am going to leave a link.... Esther Perel: The secret to desire in a long-term relationship | Video on TED.com

The general concept being that people want what they don't have. And if you are married then you have but, if you have healthy boundaries and sufficient respect for the other person as an "Other" or an "individual" then you can continue to want them because of how wholly different they are to you.

The problem occurs in long term relationships where you have two competing forces, security and adventure. Security wants things to be familiar, stable, routine, predictable, safe, because those are all good traits for bringing children into the world. Adventure wants to explore, wants to discover, wants to be excited, is fascinated with the exotic and the new, the novel, the different and it wants to do all of these things together. Adventure, this is what pulls us, and builds that bond or respect and admiration. In a relationship people need both, the safe and the new, belonging and exploring, assimilation and admiration, etc.

Men and women like to be able to admire people when they are in their element. People want to see from afar someone expressing themselves in their passion. Its why we watch sports and go to concerts and movies, we love seeing people do their thing.

This inspires us and fuels our creativity and imagination. We want to partake in a piece of that passion. I wish I could sing with her, surf with her, play volleyball with her, play video games with her, and so our imagination runs wild. Also, this still doesn't have anything to do with lust. Its more like professional respect than lust.

And that to me is where that warm fuzzy in my chest comes from.

But this warm fuzzy can still be coveting or just jealousy. Both of these things have such a negative stigma, but I think every good relationship has a degree of want still involved, leftovers from when the chase was hottest.

Everyone is attracted to beautiful things.
That's very sweet of you, Duchess, but a beautiful girl is not a thing. Being attracted to a girl for her beauty is courtly love, and different from erotic love, or love of one's neighbor, or love of one's dog. In English the word 'love' means many different experiences. And there is a significant different between feeling the pangs of desirous love, and acting in a loving manner. If the attraction is mutual, it is not acting in a loving manner to run away from someone who is attracted to you. That is hurtful to the other person.

I'm pretty sure the OP is talkng about lust, which I agree is bad. But, if a guy feels good when he sees me (not creepily stare at me), and I feel good about seeing him too, I hope he doesn't run away from me. And I hope he doesn't say something like ''Oh good, you're not so attractive, so I can keep looking at you''.

LOL. It's like that song, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. Take my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you." or something like that. :)

I totally envisioned that conversation when you said that. "Hey. You know, you're really unattractive. I think I will hang out with you for awhile since I don't find you the least bit desirable, I feel safe doing so." ;)

Those are some EPIC pick up lines - for opposite day.

Otherwise, oh man... Somehow I don't know that a man would qualify for eye transplants if the cause was "previous eyes gouged out by angry heartbroken woman."

Yeah, during the new years eve, one sweet guy told me, that my eyes and my face attracts him to look at me... It sounds sweet, but after than, I had started to avoid him... To put it frankly, that sentence scared me off.... :D It's topsyturvy and weird... :D
