Re: I have "a twitter" "a skype": Do you use, or do you have "a"?

Conspiracy Theory/Paranoia alert: In regards to my webcam, I actually have a piece of something taped over my webcam so it can't be accessed without my knowledge. I usually didn't care much for this, but I saw something last year that freaked me out regarding this and so I joined the paranoia bandwagon here. :) I don't recall what I saw, but I know someone was able to get into someone's laptop and see their house and such through the webcam, even though the laptop was off originally. Of course, they can still hear things I say...hmmm. :)

Okay, PSA done. Sorry for the derailment. Carry on. :D
I was watching Shark Tank last night, and someone came on trying to make a deal for camera blockers for computer, tablet and phone cams. The real shock, is that one of the Sharks - Robert - apparently is an expert in internet security and he said that people hacking computers and looking through the cameras is real and happens all the time!

So as of now, I have my camera blocked. Not that I have anything to hide. I guess some people like to use their computers naked. Yikes!

As for the guy with the blocker, he wanted to much money and didn't get any backing for his business!

I just don't want someone to see me picking my nose. ;)

Re: I have "a twitter" "a skype": Do you use, or do you have "a"?

When people use the article "a," what they actually mean is "a twitter account" or "a Facebook account." But in the vernacular, people just stopped saying "account." The same way we stopped saying the word "phone" when we asked for someone's number.

That doesn't make it grammatically correct, but it is the correct explanation of how the vernacular came to be.

You are right in your assertion.

Next time someone asks me for my number, I'm going to act offended, and ask them why they want my social security number. That should throw them off for at least a few seconds. They probably won't get the extremely dry humor though, and I use the English language as my playground on a regular basis, so they probably won't understand it at all.
