can your hear jesus calling you ?

okay what do people mean by them saying they can hear jesus? i wish i can hear him what does he sound like ? or is it just a metaphor ? i dont get it

i always told my self i had a close relationship with jesus/god or higher power but now im just starting to really open my eyes
what is this feeling of spirit ? am i just telling my self that because the fear of me dieing and going to hell if i dont believe ?
or am i really feeling something inside me?

i just want some type of 100 % proof that there is something spiritual out there a dream a close call a over whelming feeling

the only answer i keep getting is having faith can i get another answer i been having faith since i was kid but now im just more open and getting wiser about things i just some type of proof besides faith and reading a book

Go back to your bible and ask God to reveal Jesus in His saving office to you THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES.
He is not calling by 'spirit whispers' in your ear.

You can't control God, but you can know that God surrounds you with every good thing there is. The Hebrew language God first gave scripture to expresses it better than our English language. They say shalom. We say light.

We set up barriers to some of this. It is as if God really is light, but God can't reach the light through walls we put up. We pray for it. An example is someone praying for their marriage to be a fine one, and that is what God wants for them. If one of the people won't give honor and expressions of love to their marriage partner, it sets up a barrier to the ability of God to give that goodness.

So you can control the barriers you set up, and build bridges to God. The amount of His word you absorb. The friends you choose. The things you choose to amuse you. The control you take of your mind to keep it to fruits of the spirit and not works of the flesh, to real lasting pleasures of life as opposed to movies about the baser side of life kind of things. If you do your part, Jesus will do His part.

Stop reading all the time( not that I'm against reading) but talk to God and have a relationship with him that you may feel is love. Instead of reading about it. Talk to Him like you was talking to a close friend

Maybe so, maybe not.........but reading your profile page adds to the wonderment........no person is BORN a Christian. And given the various comments you have posted, I am left wondering if you even understand what being a Christian means, or what salvation is. Maybe that is the problem?

If they are brand new, and the "very first" thing they do is start a "new thread", it is a sure sign they are people returning who have been banned. Think back, when you guys were brand new, did you know this site well enough to go straight to Bible Discussion Group and begin immediately starting new threads? NO... You had to look around the site, figure out how things worked, reply on a few threads, THEN start a thread of your own...right???

There is a lot of deception going on today about 'Jesus calling', and some speak as if Jesus and them are tight buds walking and talking having an everyday conversation. Whether or not it is true (I don't believe 99% of it) the litmus test is ...
Does it claim new revelation to God's Word? If so, REJECT!
Does it contradict God's Word? If so, REJECT!
Does it exalt any one else than the Persons of the Trinity? If so, REJECT!

He essentially speaks to us in His Word...that is what faith not sight(or sense) is all about.

I think what people mean when they say they hear Jesus, is that they perceive, comprehend, and understand the gospel call to trust Jesus to forgive them of their sins and such.

The Bible shows God's normal way of communicating is to speak his message to someone, and then that someone takes it to the people. Now days we have the compiled message to the someones in Bible form, and that is how we mostly "hear" God.

Not that we can't hear God, but even the Bible shows that most people don't have God chirping in their ears 24/7.

We hear him by reading, and understanding the messages he's already given.
That's how it's usually been.

It sounds to me that you have a hunger and a thirst for TRUTH. You are in need of a transformation, not a reformation. The difference being to apply what the apostles taught and not what man today teaches.

Jesus said that we cannot enter into the kingdom unless we are born again, born of water and spirit.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

The problem we have today is that the term "born again" has become a watered down by-word. Everyone today says they are born again. In fact many will walk you through a sinner's prayer and then say you are born again. While others will say you are born again the moment you accept Jesus as your personal saviour. Let's see what Jesus had to say about all this. Turn to John chapter three...

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Born again is of water and spirit. And, without this we can not enter the kingdom. In fact, the book of Acts will cross reference this in chapter two...

[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[38]38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Question: Why didn't Peter lead them through a sinner's prayer? Why didn't Peter say to accept Jesus as their personal saviour? Why didn't he say to simply "believe"? If there was ever a time to do all that, this certainly would have been it. Let's turn to the book of Matthew...

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
[25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

If we are to take up our cross and follow Jesus we would have to do what he did. We would have to symbolize his death, burial, and resurrection. And, that is exactly what Peter said to do.

1. Repent = symbolic death
2. Be water baptized = symbolic burial
3. Receive Holy Spirit = symbolic resurrection

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.


OK, so now that you know God's method of the New Testament plan of salvation, and you plan to obey this plan. And, you recieve the Holy Spirit the Bible way (a good nondenominational Bible Study on this @ Bible Study, Non Denominational: Baptism, Born Again, Miracles, ), you may have a burden for the lost, and may very well be that God's purpose for your life is in ministry to save prople out of the fire.

You seem to be mixing discipleship with the new birth. We first must be born again before we can follow him.
The context of Jesus' discourse with Nicodemus regarding the new birth (where man truly ,not symbolically, receives God's Spirit regenerating him) is the raising of the bronze serpent in the wilderness. Just as those were physically healed by JUST looking in obedience to the serpent on the pole so we are healed spiritually ,through the new birth, by JUST looking in faith to Jesus on the cross.
