I understand that is the bible discussion forum, but I agree with my_adonai that this topic/thread should be everywhere. This is the darkest era we've ever faced. I am a HS teacher. It is an absolute wasteland out there and in a way it never was before. The problem is not talking about it, not shining light on it. This has to be a cal to arms, everywhere.

Driscoll's crew put out a good article here. Piper gave a great sermon years back where he mentioned talking to his daughter about sex and masturbation early on...we need to expose the lies before they can take to seed.

I think it should be, LT. There are long discussions on cc about what God wants us to listen to in regard to instructions for living, it is a question. I can't remember it being a question as recently as 1945. People lived in sin, just as they do now, but what the church said was sin was not in question. Now it is. We see the results every day.
 
At times you have to fend off your own blood to actually get GODS work done.

Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

I say this, if you struggle with porn or lust, my counsel is that do not get married. Who knows the root of cause of you choosing that lady is just that. LUST!!..

I say many divorces are due to just this, the root cause being that the couples where joined together still struggling to with this problem.
i say be free and i mean totaly free before you find a wife or seek one.

marriage is not a place to relieve your sexual desires or to objectify each other.


A lot of marriages are centered around sex.

Marriage is for BUILDING GODS KINGDOM.
a wife is not a prostitute nor is a man.

Be COMPLETELY FREE of this struggle before you get into marriage. And i say, How can GOD direct you to a wife when HE knows you struggle with this? and is it not wisdom to consider the one you want to marriage, and seeing Her in the eyes that GOD wants you to see her.

Get off the high horse, if you struggle with this, ask the Lord to set you free, if HE leads you to the above guidelines, then use them.
Consider this again, The Lord is about to come, if he finds unconfessed sins, struggles etc. Left it is that you are going where the goats are. Not trying to scare you, but deal with that problem before it becomes worse..

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Many are in the lust, more in the sin, and most in the death.

Jesus can resurrect the dead, He died for our sins and destroyed its strengths on the cross, and if we walk in the Spirit, lust wont be a problem..

Now whose with excuse?
 
Only thing that I can say is that you keep them busy. Have them focus on the word, get them involve in physical exercise that will get them to focus on their health and burn off the excess energy that they have. If they were masturbating since they were youth, it will be pretty hard to stop that habit, but you shouldn't make them feel that this sin is filthy than the rest, which will make them even more stressful and they will turn to something that they has been doing for years to relieve their stress. So don't have them to focus on that or make it a big issue while in discussions, you be watering the seed that has been planted in them years ago.

Exodus 1:12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 13 and worked them ruthlessly. 14 They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.

That is why God is having mercy on us, because we are weak, but he is not; and we can never be perfect like Him because he is greater than us, and a student isn't greater than......., John and Elijah are one of the same, they both were able to separate themselves from worldly possessions, but they did has some weaknesses. So God isn't expecting us to be like Him, and so He is looking at what the heart desires so that he can heal them.
