What 'Polar vortex?'
It's 4[SUP]o[/SUP]C (39[SUP]o[/SUP]F) here, and it will only get warmer in the next few days...
 

So I guess there won't be an 'Âlvestêdetocht' this year...

‘The Elfstedentocht [ɛɫf'steːdə(n)tɔxt] (WestFrisian: Âlvestêdetocht, English: Eleven cities tour), is an almost 200 kilometres (120 mi) long skatingtour which is held both as a speed skating match (with 300 contestants) and a leisure tour (with 16,000 skaters). It is held in the province of Friesland in the north of the Netherlands, leading past all eleven historical cities of the province. The tour is held at most once a year, only when the natural ice along the entire course is at least 15 centimetres (6 in) thick; sometimes on consecutive years, other times with gaps that may exceed 20 years. When the ice is suitable, the tour is announced and starts within 48 hours.

The tour, almost 200 km in length, follows a route along frozen canals, rivers and lakes visiting the eleven historic Frisian cities: Leeuwarden, Sneek, IJlst, Sloten, Stavoren, Hindeloopen, Workum, Bolsward, Harlingen, Franeker, Dokkum,then returning to Leeuwarden. The tour is held only if the ice is, and remains,at least 15 centimetres thick along the entire course as about 15,000 amateurskaters will take part, putting high requirements on the quality of the ice.The last tours were held in 1985, 1986 and 1997. All skaters must be members ofthe Association of the Eleven Frisian Cities. A starting permit is required. Skaters must collect a stamp in each city, and at three secret check points,and must finish the course before midnight.
The finishing point of the Elfstedentocht is a canal near Leeuwarden, called the "Bonkevaart", close to the landmark windmill, De Bullemolen, Lekkum.’

So a coooold my anti freeze FROZE......Sooo Cold,
my condition dropped in to see what condition my condition wasvin!! and I live in Florida
 
It,s so cold here in North Carolina.......Over at the zoo, they got space heaters running for the polar bears and penguins.
 
I was in Mississippi for a Summer once and after taking a shower walked outside and within two minutes was drenched in sweat. The humidity was off the charts! The humidity was so high that if you were to use a swamp cooler to cool your house it would be raining inside your house. My thoughts were, "this isn't supposed to happen." LOL.

Sometimes I don't know which is worse the swamp cooler or the gas heat. Given a choice, I think I would go for the humidity and sweat.

I hate humidity. With a passion. I'd rather have 100F dry heat than 85F with 90% humidity.

Though, I have no idea what a swamp cooler is...
 
A swamp cooler is a huge air conditioning unit. It's makes more noise than a fright train, but it will get the job done.

It's so cold in Toronto right now................. even the snow angels I made are wearing Triple-Fat-Goose jackets (yeah that's right, Toronto's angels look like thugs - that's how we roll in the T-Dot!!!).
 
Reporting -3F (-19.4 C) with high 18F for this afternoon. The polar vortex is here again. Bummer.
 
It's here too, it got up to a balmy 9 degree's here yesterday. I'm not sure what the temp will be today.
 

It's 72° F / 22° C on a sunny Los Angeles afternoon...
