Hi Cipher, my beloved sister in Christ.
I know we already agreed to disagree about gun ownership.

However I have to say I find that the ''what if's'' as very painful in perspective of the victim.

Nothing is going to bring them back and conjecturing if they had a gun or if they had a knife , they would be alive, I believe is not edifying to their families.
It pushes the family to guilt and regret. All I can say is God is sovereign over all and He is just.

He knows our lifespan and He knows our days, they were numbered long ago. I cannot say if they had a gun, they would have lived.

Who knows?

Even for the case of Nirbhaya, I found it appalling when media and people threw statements like ''Oh she shouldn't have been out late at night with a man", "she shouldn't have taken a private bus", ''She should have carried a knife'' etc etc

We can use incidents like these to alter our policies and try to prevent reoccurence, however I still stand by what I say as guns are not the solution.

If you honestly feel that your life was threatened or that doulos was inappropriate about his story then it I would suggest reporting him. Death threats here aren't taken lightly. I don't feel he threatened you, and I see it was blown way out of proportion, but that's just me. The best way to handle a situation like this is to have an administrator look over the situation instead of it continuing to be brought up.



I do recall stating that I am finished with the arguments in this thread, and even said you could have the last word. I even apologized to you for thinking any of what I said was due to racism which certainly wasn't that case.

If you do not support gun ownership that is entirely up to you. Considering you live in a different country, and culture I respect that. If I lived where you do I may feel that same, but I do not live there. I do support the right to defend oneself. That doesn't mean anyone has the right to take someones like, and I pray that I am never in a situation where that could happen.

There were times when you did seem extremely hateful and sarcastic, but I can be the same way so it would be wrong for me to fault you on that if I am just as guilty. As far as insulting Qatar all I did was post information about certain laws there. Some of them seem rather bizarre, but then again that is due to cultural differences. Again, If I or anyone was inappropriate then report posts. Administrators can handle situations instead of us beating a dead horse.

I'd carry a firearm with me to protect myself or a loved one. Why not? Countless times God has permitted Christians to suffer and die without his physical protection. Why would I trust him to protect me physically in this case? Sure, I trust him to do what he says he'll do. But he never guarantees us physical protection 100% of the time in this life. In fact in some cases he guarantees us the opposite. He tells us that we'll be persecuted, tortured and killed. Even if you believe God would protect your life, then that doesn't extend to protection from physical rape. Now if a woman were raped because she refused all protection, then I'm sure God could take that evil situation and work it for good. But I'd just as well avoid that evil altogether.
