ok, i know you guys have baked beans. i can't imagine there is much difference between baked beans and pork and beans, right? except pork and beans have a giant foreign object included.

not that i would eat pork and beans (or baked beans for that matter) on the basis that i prefer my vegetables without a hearty side of sugar/molasses/syrup/sugaryitems, or with random and weird looking chunks of congealed pork fat floating around.

p.s. on the other hand, i adore banana bread! sometimes i put mini chocolate chips in it...
Yes! I've done this too...please say you don't put M&Ms in your popcorn, because if you do, then I will be totally smitten...

...and this is not a dating site.

Parenthesis () indicates samples servings I partook of. As you can tell, Costco treated me quite well today :D

Buying $100 in groceries was the least I could do to show my appreciation. It would have been $200 but no ice cream or dessert treat samples were on the tables today. Live and learn, I guess :D

1) thank you to those of you who prayed the other night when I had those weird chest pains. I didn't sleep at all, but I was better by noon the next day. :)
2) MY DAD COMES HOME TOMORROW
2a) thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has prayed for my family while my dad has been on his extended trip. From what I hear, he could really use more prayer. His health has been declining in the last few weeks, and he is very ready to be home. He's on his way back to us right now, and he has requested to eat anything BUT Filipino food for the next 8 months, at least. Guess who's making bacon cheeseburgers for his welcome home dinner :p
3) my mom went on a business trip to the state Capitol this week, and she was supposed to be home yesterday, but extreme fog is keeping all planes grounded and she might not get back until tomorrow. She'll be fine, but she's just anxious because she was hoping to be here before my dad got here. Prayers for her would be appreciated :)

*hugs* I love you guys.

K bye gotta go clean the house so mama doesn't kill me when she gets home *skips away*

There's another Christianese saying that's been bugging me. Along the lines of "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans." I get the premise of it, I do. But, the verses I've read about God laughing (at plans/people) are taken way out of context. He typically is laughing at the plans of wicked ones or rulers.

I get that God may have different plans for me than I have for myself. I get that I need to go to Him with my life and not just set sail on my own and leave Him behind on the shore without wanting His guidance.

Maybe it's a perspective thing, but when people say God laughs at my plans, what I hear them saying is that God looks at me and laughs, thinking "You stupid, silly child. What do you know?" Which on one hand, is sort of true. Look at how God answered Job in the whirlwhind. But on the other hand, I just...I don't think God looks at me that way when I make plans. I don't think he scoffs at my feeble mind, at my lack of being omnipotent and all knowing as He is. I feel it's more of a gentle guiding, a quiet smile that says, "Oh, my daughter, the things I have in store for you that you will soon see." I mean, maybe sometimes it's abrubt. It's not always a quiet whisper from God. But I don't think He's standing by, teasing me while I make plans.

Or, if it somehow IS true, maybe I'll start making plans on staying single the rest of my life and never get out of debt or travel, because then surely the opposite will happen, since He's laughing at my plans, right?

I felt like a jerk yesterday. I was a jerk yesterday. Not to anyone. Just in my head.

Someone was incredibly rude to me recently. I responded professionally and not in kind, but the entire time I was angry inside, thinking... Ya know...I'm not some 16 year old kid working at McDonald's. Who do you think you are talking to me like that?

Aaaaaand then it hit me. I'm a jerk. Why would I think it would be ok for a 16 year old kid working at McDonald's to be spoken to like that? Who do I think I am? Remember that time when you asked to speak to the manager because an older worker at a fast food place was verbally abusive to the young man at the counter? What happened to her? Where did this sudden sense of entitlement come from? You KNOW better than this...you...jerk.

So, thank You, God, for permitting me to be spoken to like that. I needed a little shove offa my high horse. And it makes me wonder what I else I may be doing/thinking that's off base. I'm trusting You, Lord, to show me.

Today, somebody brought me poop in a bag. Literally. They wanted to know what was wrong with the animal that had produced it.

Actually, it's not all that rare. More often, they'll call on the phone and try to describe what the poop looks like (presumably because they don't want it in their car.) Either way, it's hilarious. But I'm really good at keeping a straight face. :p

i wonder if i am the only one who finds this site and its proliferation of various countries' flags as one long pop-quiz, challenging me to remember and identify all the (more obscure) country flags as you come across them?
