What do you think of them? I'm also curious if girls would be more attracted to me if they noticed I was wearing a purity ring. I think in my case God wants me to get one more in my case to remeber the reason why I don't want to look at porn anymore(please for me in this area btw I really do want to go the rest of my life without look at porn.) But I'm also kinda curious if it's also to help girls maybe feel safer around me so maybe they'd be more likely to talk to me or something. So what do you guys and girls(definatlly the girls.) think.
And yes, I actually am a virgin and waiting till marriage for sex.
Yes, I think a good Christian girl wearing a purity ring would be more attracted to you if you were wearing a purity ring. Or, maybe if a girl is a Jonas Brothers fan, since they wear purity rings. You know, that's an interesting thought. Assuming that they wear their rings on a finger other than their left ring finger, will the oldest brother keep wearing his purity ring after he gets married? Purity is not just about celibacy, as you mentioned with the porn. It really bugs me when people say "I want to stay pure until marriage." What they should say (and probably actually mean) is that they want to stay celibate until marriage but pure for the rest of their lives. I think many young people believe, as I once did, that sexual temptation is something that one only struggles with until they get married. Well, come to think of it, once the oldest Jonas gets married he won't need to keep wearing his purity ring because his wedding ring will serve that purpose. Anyway, I commend you that you want to go the rest of your life without looking at porn. You may or may not have implied that the temptation to look at porn will be there for the rest of your life whether or not you get married. Unfortunately, there are A LOT of married men, and I'm sure many married women, who are addicted to porn. At my college and career group a man spoke very honestly about how he's recovering from a porn addiction, and wife spoke about her own struggles with codependency and whatnot. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that I'm glad that you're being honest with struggle with porn, believe me, you're not alone. And if you think a purity ring will remind you to set your mind on things that are pure, then go for it.
A good piece of filtering software is a better solution to porn than any purity ring. I know couples that have it on their computers and it works.

I think (in most cases) its just a silly gimmick to get people to buy jewlery. Maybe next they'll come out with bracelets to remind you not to steal or hit people with blunt objects.

No, I could do you one better. In 1997 I got the Wow 97 CD which if you don't know it was songs (usually their biggest hit of the year) of the top 30 Christian recording artists of the year. The CD had an ad in it for the Wow 97 Bible!!!! I couldn't belive it. To make matters worse the following year, they did it again with the Wow 98 Bible and I actually bought it. At first I felt it was pretty hypocritical, but it was actually just the Wow 98 edition of the Philip Yancey Student Bible, which is a really great study Bible, and then the Wow people just put on a different cover and added a couple of sections of the recording artists talking about their favourite Bible passage, that's all. Furthermore, I was in the market for a new Bible (it remains my main Bible) and I'd heard good things about the Student Bible and the store only carried the Wow 98 edition at the time because they probably thought it was pointless to also carry the regular addition of the Student Bible.
While I agree that sometimes (or often) Christian marketing goes too far, but I think purity rings were popular before there were specific rings for that purpose, so they were just picking up on an existing trend rather than trying to start one.

Although I do find it curious that you asked how girls would react to them. The kind of guy that I'd want to date would be one who, if he wore a purity ring, would be only for God and he wouldn't think about what girls would think about it. That's because I want a guy who's stayed (or became) sexually pure for God and not anyone else.

You know what I think is better than a purity ring? A WWJD bracelet. That would cover more bases. You know, I know that this thread is supposed to be about purity rings, but I wish we could focus it more on helping dothackzero get over his porn problem. I think in some ways porn makes one less pure than having sex. Jesus said that if we look at someone lustfully it's like having sex with them in their heart. From what I've learned, a porn addiction can cause more problems in the long run than sex in a long term relationship that's not a marriage. I wouldn't be surprised if it was even more damaging to casual sex. So, asking if you think a purity ring would be a good idea for you I'm thinking it's worth a try. It's like how a co-worker asked if she thought Nicoret gum would be a good idea for her. I told her that she should quite smoking any way she can.

okay wow. seriously people? to all of you who are making stupid jokes or being silly, stop. this is not a topic to be funny about or to make jokes. didn't we all learn "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" ?? half you people are sitting here, practically laughing at the fact of a purity ring, when all the guy(the person who posted this) wanted, was looking for some encouragement and a word of GOOD advice. so if you want to sit here, and "laugh" at him. then i encourage you to leave, and not talk on the thread, because your being very inconsiderate and rude.
on a good note, i think a purity ring is a real good thing to have. it shows your commitment to God and how much your willing to save yourself for the one that He has for you. i definately encourage you to get a purity ring. =)
