...is not having someone to scratch my back. OK there may be bigger disadvantages, but that one comes up regularly for me. A back scratcher just doesn't satisfy me. I WANT SOMEONE TO SCRATCH MY BACK EVERY NIGHT!! Should I put that in my dating profile? Ha ha!

If no one is around to hear my brilliant observations of the world, did I still make a sound? =)

Not having or enjoying the...

~the times of simplicity, by that I mean just I and my loved one doing something together, having fun, sharing, laughing. For example sitting at the kitchen table playing 500 Rummy and drinking cherry kool-aid and eating popcorn.

~the laughter. So miss the laughter.

~going fishing together. Sitting on the riverbank, putting the worms on the hook and watching the bobber bob as the fish toyed with the worm. Enjoying the warmth of the sun and relaxing side by side.

~taking scenic drives with no destination in mind, holding hands in the front seat of the car, stopping for a chocolate ice cream cone, being comfortable with the silence, sharing a story or two if led to.

~kneeling in prayer together, holding each other if needed.

~hearing the words, "I love you, babe" at the close of a good day, being held close and feeling protected and cherished.

Seoulsearch is right. What is so bad about being single? Having to care take of another human being is a nightmare.

There's a time or a moment in your life when you want to share that very moment with someone so dear to you by turning your head and look into her eyes and give her a look that says I'm so glad I am sharing this moment with you - this moment did become something because you were in it.

...well, there's always The Calculus, by Louis Leithold to keep you occupied, and you'll be like, forever and ever, Amen! :D

I dunno if "disadvantaged" would be an accurate way to describe being single.

It sort of implys that you are unable to do what needs to be done or be fulfilled due to being single, which in that case if one truly believe's that, then perhaps they need more time in singleness.

I'm still of the old school thinking of you are 100% complete as a person in your singleness and that being with someone, wether dating or married does not complete you,but compliments you,and you to them.

Perhaps the title of this thread should be "What are the benefits to being married or in a dating relationship?"

I understand what the OP was asking, and what many people answered.

I suppose if I had to give an answer that would be a "disadvantage" of being single,it would be that I find I miss kissing for hours on end,and I'm certainly not going to, or am interested in walking up to just anyone and asking them to make out with me. LOL (now I'm just being silly):p

buying things in bulk at a cheaper cost. I could do that with some non-perishables, but in a small place, things get cluttery really fast.

I'm thinking this would be a SURE-FIRE thing to include in one's dating profile: "Have Costco membership, willing to share benefits."

Nothing spells out "definite marriage material" than a year's supply of pasta and moist towelettes!!!
