13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.

A lot of Christian apologists will pull v.15 and use it as a proof text to do apologetics.
That's fine but in context, which you fortunately included, is referring to our reaction when being mal treated. When an unbeliever sees how gracious we take it they'll be prone to ask us why?, it is then we have an open door to share tthe hope that is in us.

The way of truth has always been attacked, and will be increasingly as Messiah's return draws closer.

Mattithyah 10:27, "What I tell you in the dark, speak out in the daylight; and what you hear in the ear, preach upon the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the spirit; but rather, fear Him Who is able to destroy both spirit and body in Gehenna. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's will. Even the very hairs upon your head are all numbered; Therefore, do not be afraid: for you are worth more than many sparrows."
