St. Valentine was known for his great love for God, then why the whole valentines' thing focuses on human relationships which sometimes make the singles feel left out?

Not the best holiday, but I see a place for it. There is nothing wrong with celebrating temporal relationships for a day.

Yes but then when the singles basically get their own holidays every friday and saturday night the ones in relationships are stuck home with the ball and chain.

I think most people here would prefer the ball and chain those nights. I would anyway.

Your Friday and Saturday nights must look a lot different than mine!

However, someone wisely said in another thread that we all need to support marriage and family, even single people. Great advice for a stronger society. So I have no problem with V. Day being about couple-love.

I think it's just silly that there is one day every year set aside for showing love. Shouldn't it be all year around with little deeds?

True, but that could be said for any holiday or memorial. Reminders are nice though. ;)

I like to think of every day as Valentine's Day with the woman I'm with. Matter of fact,I'm pretty sure she'll get annoyed at being reminded so much of how much I love & cherrish her.♥♥♥

Well...I do work in the hospitality industry in the middle of a downtown area. All the chefs, floor managers, and some servers tend to get together after work for drinks and socializing. Since our schedules are so weird we only really hang out with each other. Must of us either don't have time for a relationship or date someone in the industry.

Sadly I think you have a more exciting life then mine, I'm jealous :p
Its mostly a bunch of work and sleep. Those two nights just happen to be when I have time to go out.

I think most people here would prefer the ball and chain those nights. I would anyway.
Tried that in my early 20s and was not a fan. Never got married but close enough.

i have mixed feelings about valentines day. on one hand, i think everyone deserves to feel special and loved by someone. for some people, it requires prompting by the calendar, and if that's your relationship, then long live valentines day.

on the other hand, i hate the notion that we need one day a year to make a big deal about "love" and the significant other. i'd feel like the biggest loser on the planet if that's what it took for me to find a reason to go above and beyond.

I look at Valentine's Day the same way as St Patty's Day, Bosses' Day, etc. Not every special day is going to apply to everyone. If it applies to you, celebrate! :) I like to see other people happy and in love. :) Life has enough serious. Have fun!

Awww yeah. My second favorite holiday, February 15. Chocolate marked down 50%, and well before cutting season. Om nom nom.

Of course, my MOST favorite holiday is the day after Easter, because 50% off Cadbury Mini-Eggs, which are indisputably the pinnacle of all candy-coated chocolate confections. It's a crime that they are only sold for Easter season. The only drawback is that Easter tends to fall just before cutting season. I bought three MASSIVE bags from Sam's Club (for like, $4 a pop!), and went ketogenic six weeks later. Two of those bags had to sit uneaten until September.

MINI-EGGS!!! Yes!!

If I wasn't pretty sure my teeth would hate me and decide they didn't want to be with me anymore, I could eat those things all day, every day.
They're THE best Easter candy.

...carry on...
