Not sure what it was? A dream? I felt like i was awake the whole time though. This happened to me around 2-3 years ago but basically what happened is, around the middle of the night i suddenly woke up, and i felt like i was being choked or being pushed further down on my bed. I tried to move but couldn't, i tried to scream but couldn't. This lasted for about a good 20 seconds, i was terrified! I've looked it up online and let me tell you, A LOT of people seem to have experienced this same thing as well. Some say its sleep paralysis, some say its actually demons. The reason im sharing this is because i want to know what you think? Has this ever happened to you? What do you think it was? It has not happened to me at all since that one time but im always finding myself thinking about what caused it.

Yes this has happened to me more than once when I was a young boy. I do believe it's the enemy because it was terrifying and I would desperately try to cry out Jesus! but it was a struggle. Finally I got the Name Jesus out and it ended.
So was it a demon? Yes.

This happens to my wife occasionally, happened not too long ago actually. She struggles to say Jesus through it but it eventually comes out and stops. Definitely demonic.

The Nightmare, by Henry Fuseli (1781) is thought to be one of the classic depictions of sleep paralysis perceived as a demonic visitation.

Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which people, either when falling asleep or wakening, temporarily experience an inability to move (being paralyzed). More formally, it is a transition state between wakefulness and rest characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness). It can occur at sleep onset or upon awakening, and it is often associated with terrifying visions (e.g. an intruder in the room), to which one is unable to react due to paralysis. It is believed a result of disrupted REM sleep, which is normally characterized by complete muscle atonia that prevents individuals from acting out their dreams. Sleep paralysis has been linked to disorders such as narcolepsy, migraines, anxiety disorders, and obstructive sleep apnea; however, it can also occur in isolation.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] When linked to another disorder, sleep paralysis commonly occurs in association with the neurological sleep disorder narcolepsy.[SUP][2][/SUP]

Why then as a young boy did't I cry out for Mama or Daddy? No I cried out to Jesus.
Just a thought.

Hmmm some interesting responses thus for. The thing is, i wasn't as close to God as i am now. So no i didn't cry out for Jesus while this was happening. Like i said, i tried yelling and moving but nothing, all of this lasted for about 25 seconds and then it stopped. I remember as i was trying to fall back to sleep this (idk what to call it) demon or whatever was about to choke me again, i could feel the presence! This happened at least 5 times! Every time as i was finally relaxing into my sleep, i felt this presence and i knew that i was about to be choked again. What i did was i got my earphones and slept while listening to music, that is what actually did the trick for me.

Buddy I had the same thing happen to me on the 15th of May last year. This thing was sitting on my stomach as I woke up feeling a heavy weight on it. I was pinned down could not move and struggled to open my eyes. I managed to do so and managed to get out a muffled "In Jesus Name" as soon as I did that the thing lifted off my stomach and then I heard this curdling evil laugh just outside my left ear. I will never forget that experience. The only people that will tell you that it is sleep paralysis are people that have never had the displeasure of this happening to them. Having said that it was possibly the best thing that ever happened to me as it confirmed to me the existence of an afterlife and if the devil is there it is safe to assume that so is God. My faith has grown since by 1000 folds. Use this experience to get closer to The Lord and do not be afraid of them. They were defeated by Christ 2014 years ago at the Cross. read Luke 10-19 where it is written "behold I give to you the authority to tread on the serpents and the scorpions and over ALL the authority of the enemy and NOTHING shell by any means hurt you" They are subject to you in Jesus name. They have no power other then to try and scare you. So if you ever have a similar experience just point to it and firmly say Get out in Jesus name and watch them leave trails of dust behind as they flee.

Hi Pandas,
Do you understand spiritual warefare? that was a demonic attack, have you thought about what would happened if you were completely chocked?the enemy attacks us mostly in the wee hour of the night, the next time you experience that, rise up and wage warfare against the devil and appropriate the merit of the precious Blood of the Lamb of the living God who was slain, The Blood of Jesus Christ will in turn speak victory over your life, read psalm 91 :5"You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
[SUP]6 [/SUP]nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
