My ex-wife ussually saw Paul s teaching as MACHISM... You know! He spoke as being submissive and all those things some people avoid to talk but, I decided to see JESUS´ instead of other´s teachings. :)

not sure what machism means. As for being submissive. Christ was submissive. Paul did not teach anything Christ did not.

I am not trying to judge you bro. Just trying to figure out where this catholic thing comes from. this places a bad light on paul and his teachings of Christ. And thats not a good thing.

That sounds all nice and pious, but Paul's teachings are canonized scripture, significant portions of the complete word of God. The words of Jesus aren't any more the word of God than his.

Lots of scripture in the OP, none of which is Titus 2.

The author of piece presented by OP is also a feminist LOL!! What new! I think I will sit back and watch her make an idiot out of herself. She got fried on the last feminist thread.

This is published on Rachels blog: "... It seems funny, bizarre even, to subject men to the “Titus 2 Treatment.” But don’t forget that every day, there are very real Christian women who are discouraged from pursuing ministry positions, dream jobs, or equal partnerships with their spouses because of how the Bible is used to manage and regulate women."

Who is misusing the Bible?

I don´t think real Christian women (neither Chritian men).

Rachel gives more link to click on (I won´t see it more: That´s feminism)

"For the sake of the gospel, let women speak This is the seventh post in our series, One In Christ: A Week of Mutuality, dedicated to discussing an egalitarian view of gender—including relevant biblical texts and practical applications. The goal is to show how scripture, tradition, reason, and experience all support a posture of equality toward women, one that favors mutuality rather than hierarchy, in the home, Church, and society. You can read the rest of the postshere.

It’s time! Today we discuss one of the most controversial passages of Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:11-12, where the apostle Paul writes that “a woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.”
Now, I’ve heard from a bunch of folks who are eager to point out that most modern scholars are doubtful that the apostle Paul actually wrote the pastoral epistles. I’ve done a little research on this, and indeed the evidence is compelling. However, for our purposes this week, and with my particular audience in mind, I’ve decided to stick with the assumption that Paul is the author of these texts."

Oh, YES!

I not feminist (unless I attend to Fem meetings)

Is that really how one has a respectful conversation with other believers? I would have hoped that in your 60 years on this planet, that you would have learned how to be kind.

I am being very generous and kind by not interferring with your thread. Don't push my button because I could change my mind. I know the Bible 3X better than you will ever know.

I think it's an English transliteration of the Spanish "machismo"

We already knew that, Biscuit, but honesty has to be kind...

I wish I could tell her I LOVE her, but there is no room to hug her the way she is.

I love you sister!

WE all love you!

We have hurt one another.

I wish I could tell you that, face to face, MISTY.

One must always look at culture when interpreting scripture. In the culture of pauls day (as in many cutures even today) Women were not to speak. Not to hold authority. and to remain quiet.

If the churhc goes around and forces a cuture to live by its standards. It will be a turn off. and many will walk away and not even look at God. This was Pauls reasoning.

If one studies paul. He calls out many women he called elders or leaders. He was not against women in ministry. or teaching. he was against going against a culture. where non believers or newborn babes who did not understand our freedom in Christ would be seriously, and possibly negatively affected.

Threatening a woman half your age and boasting certainly don't indicate an application of scripture, regardless of how much one has memorized.

Yeah, I agree and decided to sit this one out.

In the culture I grew OLD (I know I am old) men are thought to go out and cheat: The more we cheat on (and have ilegal sex) "we are more masculine", like a cock to his hens".

She is good at quoting, but I do know more I can´t make public about machism...

Even girls or women like "a macho men" (no wonder why many of them are left as a single mother, in my culture).

I love you, too, dear brother. It's just a shame that when your sister in Christ wishes to engage in calm, intelligent dialogue, she is so easily slandered by those who claim to take a Biblical, masculine role of protector and leader so seriously.

Misty77: I think your post is 100% correct, men should be working laboring jobs, men should be lifting up holy hands in church :) How far removed we are from what the bible tells us to do !! Maybe just maybe if we as men went back to how its supposed to be then the women who are trying to be leaders and therefore being rebellious of the scriptures, would not have to do so, I am all for women being the home maker, there is many scriptures that pertain to that, and i am very much against women preachers, again the scriptures pertain to this, BUT if US men got back to doing what we were doing, then the women could get back to their jobs..Men have failed in this area as much as if not more then women have,

Estuve casada con un Mexicano por 10 años. Entiendo muy bien el machismo.

I was married to a Mexican for 10 years. I understand "machismo" very well.

Am I to assume that you are on board with the kissing of your brothers, too?

A holy kiss, is not a kiss on the lips. it is a cheek to cheek or kiss on the cheek :) And yes i do that with most of my church family, i do not see a problem with it, it is only a problem with people who do not understand scripture and label it "Homosexual" or "Gay" to do so.

Paul would of encountered homosexuals during his time in ministry do you think that he would of not said greet them with a holy kiss if it was homosexual?

People need to remember that GOD has never changed, and never will, the only thing that has changed is men, and not for good either, I am not going to compromise to an evil world by going against my bible just because we live in a different culture, how stupid.

some of the responses in this thread are hilarious and sad. Yet all i see is angry senior citizens trying to condemn a woman who made a good point. why is it always the senior citizens?

It is a huge difference from sinning to be up with culture. And not offending culture by not forcing something on culture which has nothing to do with sin. As paul often did and promoted.

Quite frankly I am offended you would think I was saying they are the same.
