I think we need to combat fear. The Bible says that God didn't give us a spirit of fear. Anytime we give into fear, it is ungodly. I am sure we all have fears, but to remove clowns from places due to some people's fears of them isn't logical. The truth is, the fear of clowns is actually a deeper rooted fear. It isn't so much the clown itself, but I believe it is that the person has a painted/hidden face. So, the fear is moreso that they don't know the person and, since they can't see facial features clearly and such, they feel that there is danger lurking there. The same can be said of children and people that fear men with beards.
Most, if not all, of our fears are truly tied to something else, something deeper. There are some exceptions...but I'm not a psychiatrist, so I haven't looked too deeply into this. I think that if we remove the thing that causes the fear, the deep rooted thing, we're better off than hiding the thing they are afraid of, i.e. clowns.
