I'm so busy most days I don't know whether I found a rope or lost my horse (Yep...I'm a Texan). My sleep patterns are a train wreck. I don't know whether other singles burn the candle at both ends, but I wanted to share this article with you.

And when I finish reading these forums, I'm going to eat dinner and crash. :)

Well, I'm not sure I can quote psychology today due to ethical issues (See also: B60613 - Psychology and the Church: Critical Questions, Crucial Answers - Book | thebereancall.org )
But I think we all can burn out not getting enough sleep, it's much needed to get a around a full 8hrs in every once in awhile. :D

Now for some amusement:

if i dont get my full sleep (ie wake up when I wake up) then I am not a nice person to be around.

I dont care if the nuclear warheads are on the way, if I am asleep do not wake me up.

I have a rule. The first person to wake me on my day off dies.

One thing that puts me to sleep like a baby is green veggie juice. I have the most deepest sleeps and vivid of dreams. One of the reason why people can't sleep is from all the toxins in their body acting like a drug.

Once you start putting nutrients in your system as God intended. Sleep comes as easy as 1 2 3.

Every. Night. I don't put that much junk in me, though I can't say I'm the poster-girl for health. But even if I do eat decently....every night. My mind is just like this. >.< I've gotten a little better the past few nights, thanks to essential oils. But I'm still not getting the greatest of sleep.

yeah, i'm a bit like that. i get these random ideas (helpful for work) that will come to me as i'm trying to sleep. and if i don't capture them, it is rather annoying. at least now when i don't sleep much for a few days, i do crash one night and get a bit more sleep. and the cycle repeats...

accupuncture and massage have done more for my sleep than anything else.

I think regular sleep is important (I think the advised level is roughly 7 hours) it helps your brain sort through things etc. I usually only get around 5-6 hours though, unless I'm off, and I always have the thought (oh I'll catch it up then) but I don't think it works like that ;) . So I think if possible we probably should try and get good and regular sleep times in (though I think some people do naturally require less sometimes) though sometimes that is easier said then done, which I'm one of the cases of :)

That's sort of the point of this thread. Some of us have been doing exactly that for an extended period of time. It catches up with you.

If I have ideas when I'm falling asleep, I grab my phone and text them to myself. If I don't, as much as I say I'll "remember it in the morning", I never do. I'll think of ideas, weird questions to look up the answers to the next day, things like that. :)

yeah, i used to do that too. now i just hit my voice-to-text app.

of course, it's a fallible app. considering how often i use it, i'm still surprised by some of the "interpretations" that appear. : )

i don't know what i would do without that and my white noise app.

I sleep with a fan on at night, just for the noise (but it also helps keep things cool during the summer). I don't know how people stand to sleep with absolute silence!

Jules, I've also read that you need to keep the same sleep schedule even if you're off a day. I just can't bring myself to get up at 7 am on my day off. :)

I have the dream job of 15 years: make my own hours; therefore, I go to work when my body is ready.

I used to fall asleep like a baby. But then around latter high-school, I learned to struggle to get to sleep. Not fun. Now I try to get proper sleep but it doesn't always happen. Most of the time that happens because I read late into the night.

Oh ok, well I used to have a karate instructor who also trained himself to get by on only 4 hours of sleep a night, but then again he was so healthy I don't even think his body needed the rest.
