YESS!!!! I just ordered my punching bag, stand, and bag anchors from Amazon. So excited to start hitting things without risking arrest. =)

Oh, yeah, I guess the exercise part of it is cool, too.

yay!!!

if i may make a recommendation: if you haven't already, i'd recommend taking a couple sessions with a trainer, or at the least a workshop to help you develop some good form and avoid the bad habits. you'll also get a much better all-over workout.

also, since i didn't see them on the list, don't forget to protect your hands. : )

Don't ever EVER hit the bag without wrapping your wrists.

That sounds so fun. I did kickboxing/self defense classes for a while, and it was a really good exercise, plus it was also fun to punch something without running the risk of being arrested or judged for it :).

Yes, I got some good gloves, too—the same ones we had a Krav Maga. I loved the classes, but I have a hard time finding the consistent time and a sparing partner. Plus, I got the equipment for less than the price of two months membership. I'm a happy . . .

Ok, I've got a question. What should I call myself? I'm too old for girl, female sounds too technical, and lady has too prim of a connotation. Gal is too country-cutie, woman seems a little too aware of my sexuality, and mom makes me feel dowdy. I can't be chica because I'm too Irish. Does that make me a lassie? Like the dog? I don't know!!

Sigh, modern feminist problems. =P

I'm starting to like my job more every day :) I like my coworkers, and the food is really good too. I'm not a salad person, but today I had one of the best salads I've ever had. So proud to be proud of a Mexican restaurant lol. (I don't find good ones all the time)

are we still talking about a boxing workout? : )

you're right, it's a problem for sure. i wish there was a better choice for sure. do you still know that lexicographer? maybe you could suggest a change...

in what context? for me, i've used girl, woman, and lady, all in different scenarios. informally, i use girl, since there's no real confusion about whether i'm a child.

female? eww.

i'm too freckles and pasty to pull off any ethnic labels, except perhaps lass. and that's just wrong.

Though, my personal opinion is that it's sort of laughable. It reminds me of when God says 'and you shall have dominion over her'. I mean, there's this whole women's power movement thing going on and yet the only thing most single women really want in men at a purely physical, primal level, is a guy to be so dominant they fall at his feet (albeit subversively and willingly).
Wait...what?

Yeah, that's not in the Bible. And the rest sounds like it's from 50 Shades.

I audibly cry out in pain when I watch Olympians wipe out. I hate it for them, and it crushes my heart when it happens. When the Canadian favorite for halfpipe skiing landed the small of the back on the edge of the pipe, I groaned and tensed up as if I had landed like him. When poor Lipitsknaya fell to the ice just a few minutes a go, I yelped as if someone had crushed the side of my knee with a combat boot. I can't help it. My heart breaks whenever Olympians make a mistake, because I know how hard they worked, only to have this shattering moment in front of the world.

The Summer Games turn me into a complete wreck. I can't take my eyes off of the screen for gymnastics, men and womens. I am completely floored by what they manage to do with their bodies; I admit a huge streak of jealousy mixed with my fascination with mens' rings and high bar. But at the same time, I've watched medal contenders lose their grip on the bar at mind-warping speeds and fly face first into the mat...only to get up and grab the bar again. My heart broke when Orozco collapsed on pommel horse and when Mulroney dumped one of her vaults...but then again, when Raismann hit the very last bounce on the floor routine and she was already crying because she knew she'd won gold, I knew too, and was every bit elated with her.

The Olympics are my soap opera. When did I get so emotional?

About that article... I mean... if they are simply gauging sexual attraction, then of course they are going to choose men with "the bedroom face" over men who look like they are at the amusement park riding rollercoasters.

Not sure that says anything at all about what sort of man they might like to actually date, marry or have kids with.
What about those of us who have the "bedroom face" AND smile? We're doomed! Doomed to have women want us and want to STAY with us!!

I'm missing my homeland Mexico right now. Thinking about saving some money and stay for a couple weeks. If only I didn't have other expenses :/
