Are there movies out there that everyone else seems to love, but are total groaners to you?

Mine: Princess Bride and The Sound of Music

I called in to a morning show once when they were talking about how wonderful The Sound of Music was and how much everyone loved it. There is apparently something terribly wrong with me for hating that movie so much. :)

I feel better now that I've read this:
15 Pretty Good Reasons to Hate "The Sound of Music"

What's on your list?

The Notebook. I've said this before, but I just can't see what's so special about it . Sure, they stayed together for so many years, and they even died together. But aside from that, I don't see anything special about it. There are better love stories.

I don't like the idea of Hollywood portraying Biblical characters in this new millennial. What really got my attention was the media critics labeling "The Son of God" as "Hot Jesus." I thought that was disgusting in portraying Jesus as a sex symbol.

I agree with Sound of Music. I also really dislike Grease.

Want to see a truly great Musical on film? Check out West Side Story or Singing in the Rain!

Avatar (the James Cameron movie)
Citizen Kane
2001: A Space Odyssey (okay, to be fair, once DAVE turns up the movie is quite good but prior to that it's a horrible bore-fest)

Yes, A walk to remember was much better.....story was written by the same guy, it's just better by far.

Scary movie, how they made enough on the first one to make a sequel I'll never know. It suuuuuucks. The absolute worst movie I've ever seen though, was Kung Pow.....I really feel like two hours of my life was stolen from me

Kung Pow only works if you're watching it as a teenager and you're over-tired. Otherwise, it's a steaming pile of what's-it.

Pulp Fiction - the story structure was clever but the movie was extreme and not to my liking.

Dr. Strangelove - too wacky and disturbing.

The Departed - overrated to the max, far too much language and a total rip-off of the superior Hong Kong movie - Infernal Affairs.

I generally try to avoid "romantic" movies at all costs. I really can't stand the whole, "We just met, had sex, and are now totally obsessed with each other" genre.

One movie I really did like was The Proposal, because the characters had and built a slow history with each other.

Otherwise, if it doesn't have a lot of hand-to-hand combat, cool special effects, explosions, and futuristic weaponry... I'm usually not interested. (Probably because those things pretty much describe the history of my love life.)

Sound of Music is just....meh

Forrest Gump - I had read the book years before the movie came out. I was waiting for some of the hilarious things that happened in the book to happen in the movie, such as Forrest saving Mao Tse Tung from drowning, and the movie didn't include these parts. I was very disappointed with the movie. Everyone told me I was a bad person for not liking it.

Pulp Fiction - agree with Tintin on this, for the same reasons.

All those teen horror flicks: Scream series, I Know What You Did series (is it a series?), Scary Movie series is just stoOpid, Final Destination series...

My daughter made me watch "Goodburger" with her...ummm, no.

This list of mine could go on & on,I'm sure. There are so many mainstream films that sooooooooo many people seem to enjoy that I either have no use for or I just can't stand.

Animal House
King Kong (Peter Jackson Remake)
Transformers (all films)
The Notebook
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
The Wizard Of Oz
Mary Poppins
Patton
...the list goes on,but these are a few that I thought of right away. I also include on this list 85% of all Disney cartoon films. I never really liked them even as a kid.

You have sinned before us. I urge you to repent immediately. Goodburger was one of the top cinematic classics of the 20th century. I'm pretty sure Popclick will back me up on this.
