They are special 'guns' designed for ear piercing.

Thanks Ugly, I have learned something new tonight. I thought it was done with the literal gun and couldn't imagine how it would be done. Funny me

Yes, I was very fortunate to not have any problems with mine. If I ever get another piercing it will be with a needle. When I was younger, I did not realize the dangers of using an ear piercing gun.
Yes, I still use both pairs of holes. I always wear at least one pair of earrings when I leave home, most of the time I wear two pairs. Pretty much the only time I don't wear them is when I am home, sleeping, or biking. We mountain bike on trails in the woods, I worry about one of my earrings getting caught on a tree branch and getting ripped out. Not a pleasant thought at all.
And, while I do appreciate the respect very much, you do not need to call me Ms. I am a teacher and get called Mrs. all day long, 5 days a week. Please feel free to just call me Toska![]()

hahaha... i figured that's what you were thinking. Bet you're relieved to know the truth now.... haha
I had my ear pierced when I was around 4 years old? I don't think it hurt. They used a gun if I remember correctly. It's always up to you, what ever option you choose to go with as long as it makes you comfortable. I would go for the gun because it's less scary looking (in my opinion) than someone advancing towards me with a long needle haha![]()
I guess this means you've gotten one pair of holes and that you've not ever considered doing it again.
Scariness exists at different levels. On the surface a needle might look more scary, but microscopically the gun rips more flesh!![]()
haha you are right, you know I am thankful that it was done as a child when I didn't think too much about it because now I would actually want a piercing if I didn't have it and be too scared about having it done.
I prefer a needle ....
Hi Tosca:
(The Ms. is a force of habit...)
So you do prefer the idea of doing it with a needle now?
You say if you do it again it will be with a needle.
Sounds like you might just possibly eventual convert your doubles into triples, then. Multiple ear piercing is certainly a very well established custom.
(Nice header picture of the Bible, BTW.)
Blessings.
Yes, I have been considering a 3rd pair of holes for my ears. If I decide to do it, I will probably have my husband to it for me with a needle. ...
Way back when my girlfriend Sharon took an ice cube and froze/numbed my ears, then put a half of a potato on the back side and stuck a needle through. Then she put a brand new baby diaper pins in the new holes for a few minutes. I have gone years at a time without wearing earrings but then take a notion to wear them and my holes have never grown over even not being used for so long. Then when my daughter was young she had her ears pierced with a gun. The only advantage I could see with a gun was that both ears could be done at the same time where as mine were pierced one at a time.
Gun method because it is far more safer than the needle method.![]()
You think so?![]()
Don't know how many pairs you've gotten, but those who have been done with both methods sometimes say they prefer needle...
Blessings.
