I don't think so. She did add to that one once she worked up the nerve to get this tribal art framing she wanted. It was an extra option, add on, to the overall design. It was very nice work, not delicate at all though. It's on her back. I hear back tattoo hurts terribly and on the top of foot, which I like for girls.

I know people with faith based tattoo, as well as inspirational tattoo. Secular people will negatively look at tattooed persons, this is not just a Christian browbeat by any means. Like I said my husband does not like tattoo or my dad and my grandfather would be sorely disappointed if I got one. I choose and have chose not to get a tattoo because like I said, I change my mind to much, I like being natural too. But, in this day and age the artistry of tattooing is astonishing! But, not for me.

I honestly try to be nice to everyone on this forum. Yes, I have tattoos that were done before I became a Christian. I did not get them because they are popular or trendy. I waited several years before getting them to be sure that I really did want them. Every one of them has special meaning to me and I do not regret them at all.

I am also considering getting one more tattoo to represent my faith. That is MY decision. What really bothers me is the reactions of some of the people on this forum about tattoos. If you don't like them or disagree with a Christian having tattoos, that is fine. You are entitled to your opinion. But, when you come across as rude and judgmental, that is where I have an issue. The people that are quoting scripture about how getting a tattoo is not biblical seem to be forgetting the scripture about not judging people. There is only one judge and I will stand before Him when the time comes.

I wish I had never posted anything about having tattoos. I forgot how close minded people could be. To those of you who expressed your opinions politely, I thank you for not making me feel like you don't think I am really a Christian.

God Bless.

Hi Tosca:

Well, I wouldn't take it personally or even think it's a 'Christian verses secular' thing, either. As Wildflower says, above,
..Secular people will negatively look at tattooed persons, this is not just a Christian browbeat by any means..
There are Christian people who love tattoo art very much and there are secular people who love tattoo art very much.

There are Christian people who dislike tattoo art very much and there are secular people who dislike tattoo art very much.

So I wouldn't take it personally.

And if you go for a faith based tattoo design you may find that it leads to repeated encouragements, as it may bring about many opportunities for you to talk to people about the Lord.

Blessings.

Wildflower:

Yes, the foot is a particularly womanly placement, and tribal has special advantages since the curved tribal patterns lend themselves to the contours of the foot. (This is also why spindly, calligraphic writing is regularly used in tattoos with faith based wording.)

Yes, indeed, the artistry of much tattooing is astonishingly good, and it's no surprise that women, who tend to be particularly sensitive aesthetically, form a very preponderant proportion of parlor clients in North America, including Christian women who also have the extra desire to communicate faith joy in an aesthetically fine, inked way.

I know you have no tattoo plans, but as it happens has your husband seen some of the particularly impressive tattoo designs that you have found so striking?

Blessings.

Thank you and I apologize again for ranting in your thread. I felt like some people were talking about me when they said that tattoos were against the plan God has for our bodies. I honestly do not usually rant so much. This just upset me because people I have admired said things that I took as being rude and judgmental.

I truly hope that you don't think I am a negative person, I am not usually like this. I do apologize for bringing negativity into a thread that you started and pray that you will forgive me.

Toska: Hey, no worries.

So tell us more about how your plans are going for the faith based one...

Thank you. I am leaning towards a cross design on my other ankle. Now I have to decide on the cross and then make sure that I do want it on my ankle. For me, getting inked takes a lot of time because I think so much about what I want.

Like, a simple symbol? or a more ornate one with background?

You've already proved to yourself you can take the needle in that boney area, in any case.

That is one thing I am struggling with. I don't want it to be too fancy and take away from the cross. But, I also don't want it to be too plain. I just need to keep researching and drawing until I find what I want.

Without commitment, you might want to talk to a tattoo artist about the relationship between the design's size and placement, given the boney contours there, assuming you've firmly decided the placement.

As you'll know, most professional tattoo artists won't try to engage in a hard sell, or rush the client into a design they've not completely decided about, so it's likely you'll get good advice.

Blessings.

PS: Wildflower:

I guess - hypothetically - the question might arise, what if your husband were to change his mind also about tattoos, and admitted like you that some of the artistry is amazing?

Blessings.

PS: Toska: You might also want to find drawings on the Web (google image, etc.) and eventually print some out for a tattoo artist to consult.

That is what I have been doing. For the flower on my ankle, I took my artist a picture of it and told him to put his won spin on it. I did not want one identical to someone else. He is an amazing artist, I have complete faith in him drawing up exactly what I want.

Toska: Well, you seem to be making some progress in your plans for your new tattoo! and it sounds like you will feel eventually that it will have been well worth all the effort and planning, right?

Yes, I am narrowing down the ideas I have and should know what I want and where I want it soon. Like I said, I am in no hurry because I don't want to make a decision on a whim. I will let you know what I decide and where I will put it. Something this personal should take time.

Toska: Oh yes! it's a very personal thing! and yes, to rush would be very bad. Tattoo artists, also, regard it as unprofessional for their clients to be rushed into a design that they are not fully sure about; and you sound like you already have a good relationship with the person whose skills you use, or, at least, used last time.

I will use the same person. I really like him. He spends quite a bit of time talking to me and gives advice and opinions on what will look best. He has not steered me wrong, actually offered advice on my ankle tat that made it even better. I will be talking with him and he will draw some sketches for me so I can see his ideas for what I tell him.

Well, it's good that you like him; and good when a tattoo artist can put the client at ease. You know him from before, and of course you are a believer now! :)
