Washington DC shut down by another winter storm. Punishment?

[FONT=Arial, Tahoma, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif]I believe God controls the weather and can use it for punishment. How about that horrible drought that lasted for a while in California recently? I noticed every time the US pressures Israel into dividing her land, we get hit with bad weather. Yesterday, I read about how Obama pressured (is still pressuring) Israel, and said if the peace talks fail, he won't support Israel. Yesterday is when DC got pummeled with a viscous storm, and now freezing temps.

would anyone else like to add a time where we got hit with viscous weather right after something displeasing in God's eyes?

The Bible warns us that ~ “...he who touches Israel touches the apple of God’s eye!”
Psalm 129:5: “Let all those who hate Zion be put to shame and turned back.”
 Genesis 12:3: “And I will bless them that bless you and curse him that curses you.”
Joel 3:2 I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

Your theology is leavened by today's Pharisees, by those who benefit from the idea that they, these anti-Christ people are the sole recipients of God's promise to genetic Israel in Genesis 12:3. They are not, and neither are they Jews (i.e., of the Judah portion of Israel). Romans 2:29, Rev. 2:9; 3:9 and others clearly say that these blasphemers, these people of the Talmud are not Jews. Read the following.

"...and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews and are not, but are of the synagogue of Satan" (Rev. 2:9; 3:9).

Who does this describe today if not the anti-Christ people that millions of evangelicals have been duped into blindly supporting? The people of the Talmud are not even a good representative of Judah, much less twelve tribed Israel. But they are very clever and conniving. So clever that they have duped you and millions other evangelicals with the idea that it is they, and they only who are Israelites. Whether or not they are Israelites is irrelevant. Anyone, regardless of ancestry, who denies that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 2:22), who denies that Messiah came "in the flesh" (2 John v. 7), is according to Bible definition, "an anti-Christ."
You would do well to read 1 John vv. 7-11, it tells Christians to maintain a policy of nonsupport for "anti-Christs," for those you would have us blindly support. Wake up!
 
i'm not supporting anyone...? i was posting about how i think God is punishing us for trying to divide Israel..
 
so then, God still doesn't keep that covenant? Confused.
 
concerning Israel, (not "spiritual Israel" but Abraham's literal descendants through Isaac), Paul by inspiration of the Spirit of Truth wrote:

As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.
(Romans 11:28-29)

where is it written that we should despise the sons of Jacob?
to the contrary, God's mercies and lovingkindnesses are everlasting.


 
God holds the earth and all that is in it in Hand, but i don't believe every snowstorm is a punishment:

a few weeks ago here in the southland where i live we were shut down for a week due to snow & ice, a very rare occurrence for my area. people up north wouldn't have bothered sneezing at the amount of snow we got, but here, state & municipal authorities aren't prepared for it. am sure you heard some news about it; Atlanta in particular was a real mess.

anyhow, the weekend prior to that i hurt my back pretty badly. i couldn't walk, drive, or at all function like i needed to in order to do my work.

from my perspective, the storm was a great blessing. my wife and i both moved here from further north and often talked about how disappointed we were with the mild winters, wishing we could enjoy the beauty & fun of the snow. while i couldn't go out and enjoy the "fun" -- because of my health problem -- God in His graciousness set aside my responsibilities for a week while i recovered, and i thanked Him daily both for the gorgeous white blanket He put on my world, and for cancelling all the duties i would have had to miss or struggle through in great pain and difficulty on account of my infirmity.

i hope & believe that for some people in DC this is also a blessing, and that they remember to thank and praise God for it!

God has been known to use tragedy and negative things to bring about light. Moses and the exodus is a good example of this.

You are correct, its just that many people today can not and will not accept Israel and Jews today as it messes up their theological thinking and beliefs, such as replacement theology, some Americans think that the USA is the new Israel, some think that we are Israel, some think the church is Israel and so on.

Many Americans think these punishments are for the evil things going on in the USA. OF course that could be true, but all the major weather events to cripple America can be tied in with significant events regarding the US Administration meddling with Israel.

Don't even get me started on the meddling with Israel. Our administration is so beyond corrupt it is almost unbelievable. Though my views on Israel today may not go along with others there is one thing you dont do and that is mess with Israel. They have one of the strongest armies in the world. You just don't mess with Israel

See if this was like summertime and this happened you might be on to something. But oh no there was a snowstorm in winter? What are the chances of that? Must be a miracle.
 
It was a snowstorm that crippled washington. But whatever. Just a thought.
 
Im not saying youre wrong in the fact that God can control the weather. I agree. But I dont think every storm is part of his will. Just because he can, doesnt mean he will.
 
We can quibble about the reasons God may be angry with us. In times of ease people forget God. In times of a disaster, people turn to God. It may be from these disasters that awareness of God increases. Better to have a few years of discomfort on Earth and return to God rather than a pleasant few decades and an infinite torment afterwards.
 
I believe it is dangerous to say something is a punishment from God, unless spoken to in scripture, for such calls judgement, and that judgement belongs to God.
Scripture speaks to such things happening.
Jesus said,"in the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world.
So it may be better to say that even when these things happen, we can in Jesus, put our trust in God, and not be overcome.
I read also in one of Paul's letters where he said God made the world fallible like man, so that when man is made new,so will the world.
I agree with others here that said, God works all things to His perpose, for when we give all to God, He is glorified.
What a better and greater way to look to anything that happens, give all to God and He will be glorified!
