Hi everyone! I'm so excited that I found this site. This January 2014 I went to bed and had the most enlightened experience. As I was laying in bed my belly swelled like I was pregnant. Then my whole body vibrated with the sound of a heartbeat. I turned to my fiance and the name Zachariah came to my mind. I held my belly and I wanted to call the baby John. Then I had a strong desire to tell my cousin Mary that I was pregnant. In that moment I became frightened and pleaded to God not to give me a child because I am 42 and have two grown children already. Then my body began to die. It felt very peaceful but a strong desire came over me to repent my sins. So I did!!! After that I felt an enormous and glorious sense of love come over me. The next day I kept thinking of the name Luke. I have never read the bible before but I felt a strong desire to get one. I stopped in a church and received a bible. I turned to "Luke" and there it was!!! The story of Elizabeth (my middle name btw) who gave birth to John the Baptist. I had three days of messages from God. I would love to share them with those who have a kind ear. Today I am proud to say I am a Christian :) Was I born again?? Was I channeling Elizabeth?? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks and God bless!
 
Wow. Well, I don't think I have much advice to offer. Were you born again? Being born again is when we surrender ourselves to God and his will (often including baptism). I could not begin to explain the experience with Elizabeth and that story. All I know is that however we hear about God our next steps are usually to just begin to follow him and his will. I don't know if that helps at all.

Adie, welcome to CC. That's a pretty cool story. God uses many ways to get our attention. I'm glad you felt compelled to repent of your sins, and it was great of the church to provide you with a bible. I agree with bluebirdchaser when she says that being born again is when we surrender outselves to God and do his will. Baptism is usually done, but is not a rule for being born again. God is concerned with the condition of our lives, and our hearts. Was there something in your life that he felt needed to be changed? I know you will love it here, and I would love to hear more of your story. Please pm me anytime. :)
 
Six years ago I received an email on Facebook from an 18 year old girl claiming I was her Aunt. My brother and parents knew about her but for some reason they decided to deny her and her mother when she was born. I immediately went to meet her and we have become very close. Maybe God was blessing me because I helped look after one of his children? This experience has changed me in so many ways. I have forgiven my family and myself for things in the past and I read the bible daily. I had three days of messages from God. On the second day I was in my office and something pushed me to the ground. I began to pray like a muslim but to God and Jesus Christ. This went on for what felt like 20 min. Then I got up and raised my arms to the sky and praised the holy spirit. The strange thing was time stood still! I believe Muslims around the world are hearing from the Holy spirit. When I googled this a video on youtube came up about muslims around the world converting to christianity. After this experience I had a Muslim client come in for a massage treatment. Half way thru the treatment I noticed she was wearing a necklace with a cross. I turned and when I looked back it was gone!!! Then the very next thing she said was she asked if I had a Bible that she could borrow. I said I just received one but I would get her one of her own. That was an amazing day :)

Is Adie born again? does she need to surrender herself to be born again?

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

Acts 10:43 To Him all the prophets witness that through His name whoever believes in Him will recieve remission of sins.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever belives in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

you have a calling for Evangelism and most probably among muslims from what you say.And no.muslims don't pray to Holy Spirit but satan in disguise who is allah of quran.From what you say i realize you have Salvation experience.Read more Holy Bible and Pray to Jesus more..He will teach you more and how to Pray freely(not like in muslim rituals)
Christianity is a relationship with God.

How can you be sure you weren't channeling Satan instead?

Everything should be tested by the Word,
and reading the Bible is good enough for me to "hear" the voice of God.

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit,
but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

[1 John 4:1]
 
Thank you all for your support and advice. I appreciate it all! How do we test the spirit to be sure its from God?
 
with scripture, see if it's in accordance with it and discuss it with fellow reborn christians
