Do you mind if I ask a question, Kohen? Do you believe that Jesus is the True Sabbath!
Or put another way, did Jesus fulfill the Sabbath Rest of God, at some point while He was here?
I haven't read through your thread, except some on this page, so i don't know if this has been asked?
Does God see the Lamb as His Sabbath fulfilled?

Can you provide one clear scripture in the New Testament that states God told His people to stop celebrating the Sabbath?

For the record, I don't go to church on a Sunday because it's some special day or worshipping the sun or whatever people want to call it. I go to church on a Sunday because at this point is time it's pretty much the best day for it, or even a Saturday morning. If church was on a Saturday morning then I'd attend church on a Saturday morning.

I guess what I'm getting at, Kohen; as i posted here with the only time you used Jesus' name on any of your posts, on this thread. Using Him as a reference in backing up what you do, in having church on a Saturday.

Is Jesus greater that the Sabbath, or is the Sabbath greater than Jesus?
Or are they co-equals in the Kingdom of God?

Is Jesus the True Sabbath, did He fulfill it? Or was the Sabbath to big for Him to fulfill?

Personally I could careless if people go to church on Saturdays,
and have true fellowship with God and their Brethren,
for some esteem one day above another.

Did Jesus enter that Rest in the Love of the Father?
and give us a place to abide in Him in that Sabbath?
The Sabbath holds a large place in the Scriptures, what are your thoughts on this matter?

just some of my thoughts

Most of us believe folks who don't celebrate the Sabbath are still keeping God's commandments. At least I do. There might be a small minority who don't. Is it the same percentage of Christians who think that because we're keeping the commandments, we aren't following the love of love, or Christ?

And for the record, Most of us who keep the sabbath ARE following Jesus and obeying Him by doing it.

Still enjoying the Sabbath,
Matt

Everyone is invited to obey the 4th commandment. It's part of the basic structure of God's plan, and predates sin. Keeping Sabbath is in keeping with Messiah Yahshua, as He did observe and keep holy all Father's commandments. All things were created by Yahshua, and for Him, including the Sabbath. Messiah kept the Sabbath, even in death. Wow! does that not speak volumes?

The boss says take a day off after 6 days of hard work. Some gladly abide. The son of the boss loves the staff so much he visits and attends their need on their day off. Some helps out the son on their day off. The boss is pleased. Some think it pleases the boss even more if they work 7 days a week and some think it's a licence for them to moonlight for other companies on the day off. Oh well...

Prophet,

Jesus/Yeshua is God in the flesh; He is the most important thing in the world. My love and devotion to Him supercedes every act of obedience to any command.

Jesus is my rest from the law of sin and death, but my observing of the sabbath is a sign of my loving obedience to Him. Jesus did fulfill the sabbath, which means He brought it into a greater meaning or understanding. But I still celebrate the sabbath because He told me too. Jesus told Israel, His people, to celebrate the sabbath forever. And nowhere has He told His people to stop. So my obedience to all of His commands is a responsive obedience to the love He has shown me.

I'm not sure if that cleared up any of your concerns. It's late and it's been a long day for me, but I wanted to jot down a couple of things for you.

but to all of you who did keep the sabbath today, I know that it was a great day, and I trust our Savior met with you in a special way!

I missed this thread but I was blessed from reading the intelligent biblical posts. Lets do it again next week:D

A reply to all the above, John 4:20-24 v20 Our Fathers worshiped in this mountain;and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place
where men ought to worship. v 23. but the hour cometh, and now is,when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit
and in truth;for the Father seeeketh such to worship him. v 24. God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him
in SPIRIT and in TRUTH.. Really .. what place, and what day is THAT.....Sabbath, Sunday, OR 24-7? god bless..

...did God really say...
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: [SUP]10 [/SUP]but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: [SUP]11 [/SUP]for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

this is the 4th commandment

but again, according to the catholic bible..this is the 4th commandment..By the fourth commandment we are commanded to respect and love our parents, to obey them in all that is not sinful, and to help them when they are in need.

[SUP]25 [/SUP]And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws; and they shall be given into his hand until a time, and times, and the dividing of time.

ask yourself, which law has anything to do with time? which is the only law that starts with Remember...

let each man make up his own mind..but i do find it curious that some suggest Sabbath observers neglect Messiah's teaching. for Messiah Himself kept Sabbath unto death.

Chancellor Albert Smith for Cardinal of Baltimore Archdiocese, letter dated February 10, 1920:

If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath day by God is Saturday. In keeping the Sunday, they are following a law of the Catholic Church.

You're right to some extent Greg, God didn't specifically command His people to observe the Sabbath until the wilderness. But in that same vein, once He did tell us to observe it, He's never told us to stop.

It is all about Love, God's type through Mercy that has been form day one.
What do you think did Lucifer think God would kill them right away when they ate from that tree they were told not to?
I mean Lucifer Jealous over Adam and Eve, himself not shining as bright as he had been?
And to Lucifer's amazement God had Mercy

Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

To turn from the world and trust God in the midst of adversity for God overcame the world through Son. We are called to love as you have been doing KohenMatt, thank you for listening in the Spirit of God where all truth is at in the resurrected Christ in the Spirit of God

All christians are spiritual Jews. Like KohenMatt said, where in scripture did He command us to stop?

LOVE, GOD"S type is the fulfillment of all Law, Christ did this and does this through us, Mercy from God to give out to all. what a new concept, Flesh wars and Spirit gives new life. Christ did not fight in going to the cross for all. Why?

If resting one in seven is a curse. I'd take it.
I guess in Christ many can now work until they drop. More power to them.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

That's not the way it works. Once we come to Christ we rely on His Grace and Mercy.

Why pretend to work in the shadow after you have come to the Light? Unless you have no understanding and the veil is still over your mind...

Galatians 3:10-12
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Don't you understand that Christians aren't under the Law but under His Grace?

Acts 15:10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Thats what Peter had to say to believers who tried to put other believers back under the law.

Grandpa, you're right. We are under grace, for Salvation. But we're not talking about that here. We're saved by grace through faith, and this not of ourselves, it is the gift of God. The Sabbath is an act of responsive obedience to that salvation.

Besides, if we truly are under grace, which we are, then it shouldn't matter if we attempt to walk in some forms of obedience to God.

After all, we're under grace.;)

Blessings,
Matt

Again if physical resting is a yoke I gladly bear. You may continue not to bear this yoke and work til you drop and encourage others to do same.

Wow, only monday and I'm thinking about Sabbath. I can hardly wait!

That is not waht is said here Brother it is showing us the truth, that if it is us that are trying to do the works or keep the works, (and God knows who is who) then the gift of Father is nullified.
If what you and I do, being by faith in God is a response of thanksgiving and praise to God for Son being our redemption to Father. And again God knows who is who, I don't and am not called to judge, called to preach the Love given by God through Son, mainly the resurrection as proof. Without the resurrected Christ we all would still be in our sins.
Worship any day you like, please just see the only way to worship God today is:
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Truith i8s God just love you, period, today it is about belief or not beleif.
For all and any sin takes place by the commandment
1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

Which is better to rest even if work or just rest one day only?
I say this because he called us to rest even while working, this is all I am trying to say.
In the day of provocation they never entered his rest, because of unbelief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I can claim to believe and never rest, is that correct, except one day a week as in the flesh, looking for the Spirit of God
Just something maybe to ponder? Not fighting you or telling not to observe the Sabbath, Observe it by all means just praying you see the difference as it has been shown to Kohen Matt

Here is something for you to ponder:

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Teaching men that in order to please God, what you need to do is disregard His Words, is as insane a thing as I have ever heard!

What I see a LOT...is God stalkers. They speak empty words and say they love God, in the same breath say ignore instructions from God. God stalkers are all talk, Furthermore...
To love YHVH is to:

  • follow Him,
  • fear Him,
  • keep His commandments,
  • listen to His voice,
  • serve Him and
  • cling to Him (Deut 13:4)
To love YHVH is not just an emotion, it is total devotion and obedience to Him. To love YHVH is to keep His commandments, all of them!

If you are not fighting those who honor the Sabbath, why do you continually post on the keeping sabbath thread! That is a contradiction. It is also contrary to what Messiah taught, and how He lived! Read your Bible.
