So , here I am :)

A Christian Scandinavian. Will update my profile and post interesting stuff and pictures from Norway (hopefully)

There are three Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden and Denmark - about 19 million people with about the same language and culture. All well-developed countries with a long and interesting history.

Did you know that about 5 million Americans have Norwegian ancestors?

Hi Jenny!

I am from Oslo, Southern Norway, and have got a distinct "southern accent" :). Right now I am living in Central Norway. Beautiful and varied scenery; mountains, fjords, islands - and emerald green forest.

So do you read the Svaning-Resen version of the Bible in Bokmaal?

Hi there!

Yes, Minnesota is regarded as a "Norwegian state"! Reminds a lot about Norway. Actually all my grandfathers brothers moved up there when young - but sorrily I have lost contact with that part of the family.

There is also a Lille Norge here in Canada, near Gravenhurst. This is where the Royal Norwegian Air Force trained in exile during WW2

Yes. But luckily modernized since 1st edition in 1647. I do not mind reading in "nynorsk" - a prosaic written language.

Bokmaal corresponds with Landsmaal, right? Isn't there another name for Nynorsk as well?

You are almost right: Landsmaal is the old name for Nynorsk (funny - but we use the letter 'å' instead of 'aa'). The old name for Bokmaal was Riksmaal ;-)

PS: Before moving to Gravenhurst. the Royal Norwegian Air Force used the airfield at Toronto Harbour, which is now Toronto Billy Bishop Airport.

Haha. Stick with the 'aa'. We have three extra letters in the Nordic alphabet: ae = æ, oe = ø, and aa = æ. - which is almost as difficult as the Babylonian :)

Daniel 1:4 NIV
young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.

Of course, we have a "southern accent" (which probably would sound exactly the same to you) :)
