I think it can be said, difficult for whom? Its grammar is simpler than German's, for example.
I find norwegian difficult, or at least I used to find it difficult, due to a grammar system with a lot of rules which turned out not to be rules after all lol.

The article at the end of the word can be a pitfall.

About all Norwegians read and write English. We have to. Not many speak Norwegian :)

Today, children start to learn at the age of 6.

Oh yes; you guys are great linguists.

Kings Haakon, Olav and Harald also have had many close links with Great Britain.

Exactly! During WW2. U.S. and Norway are close allies and our culture is influenced by America. 70% of all TV programs are in English.

...kind of explains why the lure of the EU and Brussels does not "cut much ice", so to speak, in Norway. (Kind of: Join us in the EU, and we will take your oil resources from you!)

There have been two referendums on joining the European Union in Norway: 1972 and 1994. Both with the result NO!
Today, the vast majority is against membership - for obvious reasons. Norway has, as you point out, a very strong economy due to oil & gas, and fish.

We truly can say that we are blessed.

Now wouldn't those Brussels bureaucrats just love to get their hands on Norwegian oil and fish! :)
