I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me he hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for his own.

But "I know whom I have believ-ed,
And am persuaded that he is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto him against that day."

I know not how this saving faith
To me he did impart,
Now how believing in his Word
Wrought peace within my heart.

But "I know whom I have believ-ed. . ."

I know not how the Spirit moves,
Convincing men of sin,
Revealing Jesus through the Word,
Creating faith in him.

But "I know whom I have believe-ed. . ."

I know not when my Lord may come,
At night or noon-day fair,
Nor if I'll walk the vale with him,
Or meet him in the air.

But "I know whom I have believe-ed. . ."

I love the highlighted verses particularly; the hymnwriter has not read Ephesians in vain, evidently...

Amen. . .and 2Tim 1:12 in the chorus.

I'm pretty much staggered at the first verse.

I love that one. I have never heard it. What's it called so I can hear it sung?

'My song is love unkown
My Savior's love to me,
Love to the loveless shown
That I might lovely be.'

(There is more, but I don't have it word-perfect.)

Blessings.

I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining ev'ry day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven's table land,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim is higher ground.

Lord, lift me up and let stand. . .

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till heaven I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."

All to Jesus I surrender; all to him I freely give; I will ever love and trust him, in his presence daily live. Refrain: I surrender all, I surrender all, all to thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all. 2. All to Jesus I surrender; humbly at his feet I bow, worldly pleasures all forsaken; take me, Jesus, take me now. (Refrain) 3. All to Jesus I surrender; make me, Savior, wholly thine; fill me with thy love and power; truly know that thou art mine. (Refrain) 4. All to Jesus I surrender; Lord, I give myself to thee; fill me with thy love and power; let thy blessing fall on me. (Refrain) 5. All to Jesus I surrender; now I feel the sacred flame. O the joy of full salvation! Glory, glory, to his name

Thanks, Ms. Kay; this is a much loved hymn, and its tune is probably just as famous.

Blessings.

I love the old gospel hymns: The Church in Dale, Will The Circle Be Unbroken, etc... But my favorite is:
Pass It On
It only takes a spark to get a fire going and soon all those around can warm up to its glowing.
That's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced it you want to spread to everyone you want to pass it on.
What a wondrous time is spring when all the trees are budding the birds begin to sing and the flowers start their blooming.
That's how it is with God's love once you've experienced it you want to sing its fresh like spring you want to pass it on.
I wish for you my friend this happiness that i found you can depend on him it matters not where you're bound.
I'll shout it from the mountain tops i want the world to know the Lord of love has to me I want to pass it on.

"Take Time To Be Holy"

Words: William D. Longstaff, 1882

Music: George C. Stebbins, 1890

Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;

Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;

Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy, let Him be thy Guide;

And run not before Him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,

Each thought and each motive beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.

"Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy." - Leviticus 19:2

As the Deer panteth for the water so my soul longeth after thee

You alone are my strength, my shield

To you alone may my spirit yield

You alone are the real joy giver and the apple of my eye

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in his wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus. . .

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow him there;
Over us sin no more has dominion
For more than conq'rors we are!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus. . .

His word shall not fail you--he promised;
Believe him, and all well be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus. . .

my two favorites (not listed already) is "old rugged cross" and this one:

[h=2]It Is Well With My Soul Hymn[/h]When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain
