Okay so a thread about our favorite hymns.

I love this one by Josiah Conder:

"Thou are the everlasting Word,
The Father's only Son,
God manifestly seen and heard,
And heaven's beloved One.

Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou,
That every knee to Thee should bow."

(There are more verses, too.)

Blessings.

There are so many that I love dearly that to pick one would do disservice to all the rest........sigh........

:)

So may I just post ONE of my favorite Psalms?

[h=1]Psalms
150[/h]
1 .) Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 .) Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 .) Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 .) Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 .) Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 .) Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Some people use the metrical Psalter.

(I wouldn't use a Psalter exclusively, though, as some traditionalists do.)

Blessings.

Another of my favorite hymns:

"How good is the God we adore!
Our faithful, unchangeable Friend,
Whose love is as great as His power,
And knows neither measure nor end.

'Tis Jesus, the First and the Last,
Whose Spirit shall guide us safe home,
We'll praise Him for all that is past,
And trust Him for all that's to come."

Joseph Hart

Blessings.

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died,
My richest gain I count as loss
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ my God.
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.

See his head, his hands, his feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did ere such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my heart, my life, my all!

Ty; and yes, I regularly find myself quoting the verse which you have highlighted.

My absolute favorite hymn is Holy, Holy, Holy when it is sang in church with only a piano being played as we sing. For me, that is so moving and glorious. I could sing it every week.

As in: "Holy Holy Holy, Lord God Almighty, Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee" ?

I love that one, too. We sing it regularly at our local church.

Blessings.

  1. What can wash away my sin?
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
    • Refrain:
      Oh! precious is the flow
      That makes me white as snow;
      No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  2. For my pardon, this I see,
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  3. Nothing can for sin atone,
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  4. This is all my hope and peace,
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  5. Now by this I’ll overcome—
    Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
  6. Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For Thou O Lord art high above all the earth
Thou art exalted far above all gods
For Thou O Lord art high above all the earth
Thou art exalted far above all gods

I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee
I exalt Thee O Lord
I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee
I exalt Thee O Lord

Ah cool. I've always loved "Amazing Grace" and another one is Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Well, this is excellent. At the local church where my wife and I go, we are well familiar with both these, that you have mentioned. Blessings.

DONNIE MCCLURKIN LYRICS - Days Of Elijah

Days of Elijah by Donnie McClurkin

"Days Of Elijah"

These are the days of Elijah
Declaring the word of the Lord, yeah
And these are the days of Your servant Moses
Righteousness being restored

These are the days of great trials
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!

Say, behold He comes, riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun at the trumpet's call
Lift your voice, year of Jubilee
Out of Zion's hill, salvation comes

And these are the days of Ezekiel
The dry bones becoming flesh
And these are the days of Your servant, David
Rebuilding a temple of praise

And these are the days of the harvest
The fields are all white in Your world
And we are the laborers that are in Your vineyard
Declaring the Word of the Lord

Say, behold He comes, riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun at the trumpet's call
Lift your voice, year of Jubilee
Out of Zion's hill, salvation comes

Behold He comes, riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun at the trumpet's call
Lift your voice, year of Jubilee
Out of Zion's hill, salvation comes

There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!

There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!

There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!

Behold He comes, riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun at the trumpet's call
Lift your voice, year of Jubilee
Out of Zion's hill, salvation comes

Behold He comes, riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun at the trumpet's call
Lift your voice, year of Jubilee
Out of Zion's hill, salvation comes

Forgot to tell them to click on blue link to hear Donnie sing. You have
to hear it to get the feel of the awesomeness of what it will be like to
see our Savior coming after us ~ Wow... can't wait... Bless you ~

I found another one The Prayer by him and a lady that is outstanding.
Will try to get the link here. I am sure I could do a list of all my old
hymns from down through the years. Many times I will still hear my
father standing beside me with his beautiful voice singing Hymns
from hymnals. Such a shame so many of those won souls to Christ.
Today, it is not that easy to convince people songs are not for
entertaining, but to take us into the full knowledge of what Christ
has done for us. And the song writers of old hymns suffered and
wrote out of that suffering. Some are good today and also do the
same. We have to be so cautious what we listen to. I keep
remembering I got saved under hymns of the Church. That was how
many got this far over hundreds of years of hymns singing of the
Blood of Jesus.... At The Cross.... Amazing Grace.... Oh so many
has so much meat to it.
The suffering today is just as harsh as days past. I believe some
of the old hymns reach down inside where we hurt and can be
healed.
The suffering of today is harsh, but often times the new songs are
to make you feel good. Like putting band aid over a wound.
Okay, going to see if I can get Donnie' link to The Prayer and
share it ~
