It is a major sin with God because He wants you to believe in Him and not the dark side.

[h=1]Fortune Telling[/h][h=2]The Bible perspective to fortune telling.[/h]A dear friend asked what the Bible says about fortune telling and here is the response. We pray that this shall be a guide to you too.

Fortune telling is definitely not of God. In fact it is detestable to God. We thought it best to give you some background about fortune telling so you can understand it better.

[h=3]What is fortune telling?[/h]Fortune telling or divination, as it is sometimes referred to, is the art or practice of forecasting the future or making predictions about the future. This is done by means that is displeasing to God and includes the use of ouija boards, crystal balls, horoscopes, astrology, telepathy, palm-reading, clairvoyancy, kabala (Jewish mysticism), tarot and other card readings, etc. A person who practices fortune telling is either referred to as a fortune teller or a diviner.

[h=3]What does the Bible say about fortune telling?[/h]In Deuteronomy 18:9-13, the Bible says When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spirits or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

[h=3]Why must Believers stay away from fortune telling?[/h]First and foremost, God says these practices are detestable to Him. Therefore, engaging in such practices is against the will of God, in fact it is disobedience. Anything contrary to the will of God is of the wicked one, satan and we are not to engage in such practices.

People who go to fortune tellers are not trusting God. They are anxious and worried about their future. They want to know what the future holds for them and want to take their future into their own hands. They do not believe that God can take care of them and their future. They do not understand that only God knows the end from the beginning and only He has the power to keep us.

We need not be anxious about the future. We only need to trust in Jesus and we will be at peace. The Bible tells us “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. He has also promised that He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3).

Fortune tellers will take your money and take you out of the will of God. Going to fortune tellers is a sin. Our future is in God’s hands and if we let Him, He will take care of us and our future. We are to remember His promise that the plans He has for us are for good and not of evil to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). He has also promised that He will order the steps of the righteous.

[h=3]What to do if you have engaged in such practices[/h]Believers who have indulged in these wicked practices must confess, ask God for forgiveness and desist from participating in fortune telling in the future. In Bible days, those who had engaged in such practices brought the materials they used and burnt them in public view.

Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power (Acts 19:18-19).

It is our prayer that God will grant you wisdom as you share this with your friends. May God grant them a repentant teachable spirit to hear the Word of God and a willing heart to obey it in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

God bless you,

The bible Clearly states it is a sin. These people are not getting any power from God, so where are they getting it from?
Its also well known that nearly every fortune teller is a fake and using psychology and general terms to make their 'predictions'. Tarot cards, mediums, seances, ghosts, numerology, astrology, etc... are all considered forms of the occult.

The bible is quite clear that fortune telling isn't a bad idea.

concider this;
Some of them are fake and just want your money
If they do talk to spirits, concider this: What spirits do you think they are talking to?

The really frightening thing about fortune tellers is that scripture doesn't say anywhere that they are never are able to predict the future. The bible tells of Saul going to a fortune teller, and the fortune teller could know the truth about the future. God denies that power comes from Him. If they have power it comes from the devil. It isn't some fun innocent thing to do, it is seriously flirting with the devil who is powerful.

This is So Not of God, He warns of this deception, in His Word so why on earth would one do this....???
Unless you were not standing. Not reading & studying the Word? In which case, i pray you will stand!! because it is the only way you will stay safe in all ways. God Bless you <><

God denounces divination and fortune-telling in Bible verses such as Deuteronomy 18:10; 1 Samuel 15:23; 2 Chronicles 33:6; Isaiah 2:6; and Acts 16:16-25.

In Acts 16:16-18, the apostle Paul was evangelizing and a girl possessed by a demon with a spirit of divination who brought her "employers" much profit by fortune-telling began following Paul crying out "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." Paul turned and said to the demon possessing her, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And the demon left her.

The world of the devil's occult embraces everything from astrology to tarot cards, seances and Ouija boards, fortune-telling, Witchcraft, and Satanism. It encourages attempts to penetrate into a dimension of spiritual reality that God has expliticly forbidden; a dimension that holds ultimate ruin for those captured in its web of deception, corruption, and ultimately damnation.

Fortune telling is a tool the devil employs to deceive, ensnare, and corrupt people.

Understand there are only two supernatural sources of knowledge about future events: the gift of prophecy (see 1 Corinthians 12) that comes from God the Holy Spirit, and the hit-or-miss information offered by Satan and his demons via the occult.

God knows the end from the beginning, and He is usually not inclined to reveal it to people. Satan, on the other hand, does not know the end from the beginning, but he does have some knowledge; enough to impress the world and he uses that to deceive, possess, and corrupt people.

But Christ defeated Satan on the cross. Christ defeated him in the glory of the resurrection, and He imparts that capacity of conquest to our lives every day that we are willing to believe Him. Every genuine Christian has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. What every Christian needs; however, is spiritual maturity; a serious commitment to understanding God's Word; fellowship with other genuine Christians; Acknowledgement of the power of the Holy Spirit; and prayer.

You need to turn away from the sin of the occult and ask God to forgive you for, knowingly or unknowingly, engaging in it and repudiate it forever from your life.

In that second you go there you put youself under the authority of the demon of that fortune teller and make it your god which is the sin of Idolatry which brings a curse of God on you and then you fall under the curse of the demon (divination and more)
