Both hahahaFrom playing instruments during worship or from standing during worship?
Some people say, what's the big deal in adding instruments to worship, after all they say they like instruments. Some will say that it's not a sin to add instruments to worship, or some will say show me where it says it's a sin. Folks we're talking about worshipping our creator, and for some to say it's not a big deal is beyond words. God has told us what HE wants in worship, which is singing only, with COMMANDS. Why doesn't God give COMMANDS for instruments? Is it a sin to add something like instruments to worship when he has COMMANDED us to sing only, of course it is. There are sins you and I consider small or insignificant to other sins, but to God, sin is sin. Again, people are adding instruments to worship not for God, but because they like it, but what about what God likes and wants, and most importantly, COMMANDS? Stick to what has always been and avoid the consequences of something that you haven't got 100% proof that is allowed, singing you know is allowed.
The past and future has nothing to do with now, referring to the Christian age on the use of instruments. What God wants now is singing only, what God wanted in the past is just that, the past. For the future, why not wait to know for sure when that time comes. So concentrate on here and now and leave the past and future alone when it comes to what God has commanded for us today in worship.
God isn't in to guessing on what he thinks might be ok, he knows, but as far as interpretation, it's obvious, man has his own interpretation on how to worship God and will always try to improve on something that cannot be improved on.
Shava, if God has a specific instruction, God will give it direct. This is problem with humans, they think up strange ideas then manipulate cherry picked verses to support their views. IF God did not want us to use instruments there would be an instruction, given at least 3 separate times. Seeing as there is not even one direct instruction "You are not to use instruments or any sound other than your voice to worship me", then there is no problem in using them.
So the commands he has given us you feel isn't enough? Why are three instructions needed? Does he have to tell us not to steal, lie, kill, three times in order for it to be what he wants us to do, or commands?
He didn't need to BUT He did again and again and again.

FAQ ID # 191 - Nine of the ten commandments were reinterated in the New Testament,does this mean that we are not suppose to keep the Sabbath? I am told that we are suppose to keep it because we love God.
I see you do not understand the significance of 3 times. It is simply God re-inforcing his instructions to us, if it was important that God wanted us to stop using instruments as you claim, then that would be a direct instruction to his prophets and disciples, which would be mentioned as a clear instruction at least three times, as for murder , theft and lying, well there are hundreds of references to those things being wrong.
It is the same with all other claims made about how we are supposed to live and the rules and laws God wants us to live by, humans have invented many new rules and rituals which are not found anywhere in Bible and then declared them to be what God wants, Baptism is one such area and the emergence of cults like the King James Only cult.
So I ask again, where in the Bible does Jesus or God state clearly that we are not to use instruments to praise him. Surely if it was such an important thing to God, we would be told plainly and simply, as it is all we have is a human interpretation of a single verse.
Shava question what do you believe concerning the gifts of the Holy Ghost , speaking in tongues prophecying miracles faith knowledge wisdom etc..
You won't see this thread die any time soon. What you're seeing here is people that love controversy and debate want to keep it going. There's already been several people of the Church Of Christ that has done there best to explain the doctrine appropriately without legalism and condemning of others. Few paid attention to that because there was little drama. It was dismissed by many because we didn't want to fight about it. Yet people still continue to judge a whole group of people based in the comments of ONE individual. Why is this? Because they like drama. This thread needs to die but it won't.
Shava is only partially to blame. Those who continue to feed it are just as guilty.
There's nothing wrong with the thread, as it does provide information on the truth. Telling others if they continue on this thread they are guilty, guilty because they choose to want to know something or tell something related to the thread, that is quite pathetic to tell people this, who in the world are you to tell us what to do, grow up. If you don't like it go to another thread, you know you have been given the ability to choose, use it.
They have ceased, they were used to bring attention to the ministry of Jesus, pretty much like a public relations tool.. Tongues that some use today isn't what was used back then, this is a man made thing of doing nothing but making a noise that has no meaning. Tongues that the Apostles used was the ability to talk to others in their own dialect, language as their were many from different areas that spoke different languages, that's the true tongues that the Apostles had the ability to do, not the way it's used now by some.
