(sorry, :) couldn't resist........)

The Law……………..Faith

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Romans 10:1-4 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. 9.) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10.) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1[SUP]st[/SUP] Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19) For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 22) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greek’s seek after wisdom; 23) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness. 24) But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 27) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 10) For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11) But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12) And the law is not of faith; but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 17) And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18) For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19) Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed shold come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angles in the hand of a mediator, ……23) But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25) But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. 15) Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace. 16) And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby; …….19) Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Colossians 2: 6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him; 7) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9) For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, 10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power;

3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another, in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Timothy 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7) For if the first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8) For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; …………12) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13) In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are alled might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16) For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator…………28) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2) For then would they not have ceased to be offered? Because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins…… 9) Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, oh God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Faith is the Whole Bible
if you dont believe the whole Bible you have a false religion and will be lost.
that simple.
And if you believe in the whole bible, you believe in the law.

Law is explained so very well in the 119th Psalm.

If we pull out the meaning of words to understand Christ, then it is a good thing to understand what faith is. It is depending on the entire bible to be a picture of what God is like, every scripture. Each must fit together nothing out of place. The Old Testament is the perfect picture of all of the attributes of God and prepares us and explains who Christ is. Christ fills out the Old Testament. Grace, Law, Faith, Salvation, Righteousness, Holiness, everything has its place and everything fits together to make a perfect whole.

He gloriously fulfilled the law, but the New Testament believer is not under the law now; the law was changed, and the New Testament believer is under grace.

Romans 7:6

King James Version (KJV)

6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Key being, we serve "in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter."

I understnd it this way. The law tells us how to love God and how to love our neighbour as ourselves. The grace that God gives to produce faith is God giving us the love to obey Him. To love God and our neighbour.

So when God gave the LAW in the old testiment God saw that man cannot do this on his own, then God made a plan and through His Son He made a WAY to give man what he lacked to obey God. LOVE! Grace is only the LOVE God has for a man like me. Grace is LOVE from God for a man like me. And that GRACE/LOVE of God will produce love for the Word/Truth that is FAITH. And Faith will be WORKS of love in Truth, and that will OBEY GOD 100%.

There is ONE scripture that confirms ALL I said now. Hebrews 13:20 and 21... Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Please take time to read these two verses and see the POWER of God working this in ALL HIS CHILDREN. And God's will is Matthew 5:48. As easy as that!

May God work in me through Jesus Christ AMEN!

Romans 8:3-4

King James Version (KJV)

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us, in Christ. How is it, that it is fully met and you wish to still be under its obligation? If you have finished paying off your mortgage on your house, do you keep paying the bank afterwards? Or, has your contract been fulfilled?

This will probably be a popular thread. My ears are all tickly.

So Christians can disobey God and break the ten commandments, the moral law? Or is it the ceremonial law that was done away with?

Why do people just pick one or two verse to try to make a point and totally miss what God's Word (Jesus) is saying? Romans 6 is saying that if you are true followers of Jesus you will keep his law even though we are saved by grace. Grace and the law (ten commandments) go hand in hand (verse 15). If you disobey God's commandments you are a servant of the devil (verse 16). Not being under the law does not mean that we do not have to keep the commandments, it is saying that the law is now written in your heart and it becomes second nature to God's people (verse 17).

I really like this post. Well said.

Thank you. I'm just trying to share God's truth as the Holy Spirit reveals it to me. God bless.

BenFTW is the righteous men on earth as righteous as God is righteous? Are God's children as perfect as He is perfect? Can a child of God that is Born of God still commit a sn? Is sin not TRANSGRESSION of the LAW?

I guess i ask this. if a MAN OF GOD lives here on earth will he still be imperfect of still commit sin? I ask becasue the Bible has an answer to this. I just want to see if you give the same answer as the Bible.

The Bible is VERY clear on what a MAN OF GOD is like. And the Bible is also very clear on what a sinner is! So I guess I want to know what do you think a MAN OF GOD looks like and lives like and acts like!

I propably believe a lot different than any person you met before. But do not try to disprove me with peoples words use the Bible to reproof me. I believe this verse with all my heart.... Without ANY explaination or editing ... Just as it is written I believe this to be TRUTH!

1 John 3:9...Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Do you believe it just as it is copied and pasted from E-sword? Or do you need to EDIT the Word to suit your doctrine?

hello there,
I see that nobody (except Jay1) lay a single word on the scale of law, and I find it not fair, because op is named faith….law

Also what a poor discussion without counterarguments, it is not even discussion, it is just…hmm.. nods after nods

So I risk it, (and I know … let’s see how quickly the big black crows will fly here and eat me up with their beaks) and I would put something on the other side of scales

Anyway, try to be gentle with me, I am your guest you know, and woman…and also stranger… so don’t beat me up….. it wouldn’t be polite..

Mat5, 17-19
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven

Luc 10,25- …
And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Luc 16,17
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Mat 23,2,3

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Mt 24, 35

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Rom7.7

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Gal. 3,21

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Gal6,2 2

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. ....law of Christ

1tim1 8

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully

Rom 2, 21
Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

Psalm 19 just one of many …hymns of law

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

be blessed

Also in Revelation 13:14-18 is the beast (false church) is breaking the commandments of God, and this is during the very last days. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city (New Jerusalem) Revelation 22:14. Also see Revelation 21:7-8, 1 John 5:2-3, Hosea 4:6

He gloriously fulfilled the law, but the New Testament believer is not under the law now; the law was changed, and the New Testament believer is under grace.

We have gone through that cahnge in the Law before. Plesase explain to me what sin is farouk, since there is no Law to define it.

Well Jay1, my friend, they not only pick a couple of verses but lift them entirely out of context, misrepresent them and then twist them until they are unrecognizable.

Do you believe it just as it is copied and pasted from E-sword? Or do you need to EDIT the Word to suit your doctrine?

Well, let me ask, do you believe this C&Ped from E-Sword or do you need to edit it...

Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

If you are born of flesh, you are not born of the Spirit. You are not born of the Spirit until the resurrection...

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

flkesh and blood CANNOT inherit the Kingdom of God.

1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Paul shows here that we MUST BE CHANGED from mortal, corruptible flesh to immortal, incorruptible Spirit.

Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Adn furthermore, those born of the Spirit are invisible, you cannot see them come and go, you can only see the effect. Now how much editing to this do you need to make to fit your preconceived ideas?

The following verses are copied and pasted from E-Sword...

1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Whoa here big fella, it says there are those who are begotten and then those who are born. Now, John also says that we sin, therefore we are not yet BORN of God, but rather begotten...

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Feel the need to edit them?
