So what about the sabbath? (this was part of the 10 commandments).

And what about calling food and people unclean?

But I think we are moving away from tattoos.
I found a Bible verse that should answer both:

Colossians 2:16

New International Version
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

New Living Translation
So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.

English Standard Version
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

New American Standard Bible
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--

King James Bible
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

From my understanding, it says don't judge someone for what they eat or drink, or their Sabbath Day. Therefore that can mean either dont judge them for when their Sabbath Day is, or if they honor it or not. My opinion though, and this is just my opinion, is that it means what day they choose that is their 7th day.

The law, however, had the Sabbath as an integral part of its system.

So my suggestion to you is that now the New Testament believer is not - for a number of reasons - under the law.

Then that means I don't have to worship God to be a Christian? Because that is one of the ten commandments.

Or I can murder people and be a Christian? yet not to murder is one of the ten commandments.

Etc. etc., you get my point.

What I am saying is that the Sabbath Day inthat quote's context can mean don't judge someone for how they celebrate the Sabbath Day, or when they celebrate the Sabbath Day. You could even be right, and it means not to celebrate it or not. However, to say we are not under the law, I disagree with you.

Romans 7.4,5&6:

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
.....

Hebrew 7.11-19:

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Maybe just a few. But right now just that one.
Presley: Anyway, if you scroll up, the thread seems almost to have stopped talking about tattoos...

Maybe I share the blame here...

Seems like you are quietly more dedicated to the topic than some of us...

Doesn't this all just say that we aren't punishable by the consequences of the law, not to disobey the law established?
For example "ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ" - Jesus said he didn't come to destroy the law but to fulfil, however he allowed repentance. It means that we werent dead to the law (most things caused people to be stoned to death instead of repent).

"For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter."

That quote says that exactly. It says that the motions of sins which were by the law did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. Meaning our sins caused us to be killed, sentenced to death.

The second half says how now we can repent and not just be killed for making mistakes.

Same thing in the second batch of quotes you posted. It talks about changing the laws. It doesn't say anything about not having to follow the law. If that was true, then why would God setup the law anyways? Or why would Jesus quote the laws when he was tempted by Satan? Or why would murderes and theives go to hell? See my point. What you posted just shows that the punishment for the breaking of the law in the Old Testament has been changed, not that the laws do no longer count.

Well, I'm dispensational, and I find the writings of CI Scofield and J N Darby and others very helpful in distinguishing between law and grace, Israel and the church, Old Testament and New, etc.

I can't accept that they are all the same.

Well we can agree to disagree, but want to know my advice?

Pull a Gideon. Here I'll show you what I mean:

Judges 6:36-40

[h=3]Judges 6:36-40[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]36 [/SUP]And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
[SUP]39 [/SUP]And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

Thats only the KJV but you get the point. Just ask God if you are right or wrong, and he will answer you. Just be logical don't ask like "If an ice cream truck falls out of the sky..."

So what about the sabbath in the same chapter? are New Testament believers really under the old economy still, and thus under the law? and what about the uncircumcised fruit in the same chapter: when you go to the supermarket, do you — wearing a bushy beard, of course — buy only uncircumcised fruit?

Obviously I don't really think you do, but you see my point?

Blessings.
How do you spawn those off-topic questions from what I said? I said nothing in regards to the debate between OT law and NT that you have going on with DavidLovesSnow. I simply pointed out how you didn't understand what Leviticus 19:27 was actually talking about, and given your question about the bushy beard, it seems you just ignored everything I said. Shaving your beard the way we shave today is not now, nor was it ever, a violation of Leviticus 19:27.

its not me who decides what is morally right or wrong about Tattoos. Leviticus 19:28 is what God told us not my opinion or my perspective. It's God's law.
When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, that you may not bring the guilt of blood upon your house, if anyone should fall from it.
Deuteronomy 22:8

Do you have a parapet on the roof of your house? If not, you better get one, because according to your view you're sinning by not following Deuteronomy 22:8. Or do you not understand the difference between moral laws and cultural laws?

We should be led by the peace of the Holy Spirit, not by outward signs, because outward signs can be deceiving. If you want an example of signs being deceiving, check out Joshua 9.

:) my friend has over 15 different bible verses tattooed on him. They are so beautiful!
Some of them he had written in the cherokee language ^-^
Presley: I can see that you really deep down appreciate this means of communicating a personally motivated witness to Scripture!

Do you know if he has opportunities to talk to people about those Scripture verse tattoos?

Blessings.
