12 So speak all of you, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 2 For the law of the Spirit (o. pneuma) of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
 
The LAW OF THE SPIRIT is the LAW God Himself maintains in your flesh. You are no longer in the flesh! HE IS! You should be FREE even from the flesh. God says in Ezekiel 36 :26 and 27 .... God will REMOVE your stony heart... God will not modufy the stony heart he will REMOVE it. And He will give you a NEW HEART (soul) and in verse 26 and 27 He says He will put a NEW SPIRIT (His Spirit) in you. And God WILL CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN HIS STATURES, AND KEEP HIS JUDGEMENTS... That is why the Spirit of God makes us FREE from the law of sin and death, because GOD CAUSE US TO WALK IN HIS STATURES...

He will casue us to keep His judgements and DO THEM.... So it is not us that does the GOOD it is HIM.. HIS HEART AND HIS SPIRIT. The Stony heart is REMOVED and the NEW SPIRIT is in us not the OLD AND NEW.... Only the NEW.

That is why 2 Cor 5:17 says ... Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Please believe this.... ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.... ALL THINGS... That menas NOTHING of the old is left behind to relive again.... OLD HAS PASSED. If the old has not passed nothing of this has happened! Then the stony heart and the sinning spirit is still in us and we NEED GOD TO REMOVE THEM, and REPLACE them. Amen!
 
This is true the old man is shed and needs to be kept off now in my experience the spirit prayer combined with a consecrated and holy life brings renewance r, regeneration that is the gift Jesus gave us

VAU.41Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
42So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
44So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
45And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

46I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
47And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

The law of Liberty is in the Old Testament too, it is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The" burden of the Lord" is not His law, it is sin, that's the burden.
 
The law of liberty is the law of the spirit meaning no sin to live a pure life ,for in God's Spirit is no sin at all !
 
12 This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.

The word for perfect in the original language means the idea of complete or absolute. In the Bible there are only four things that are perfect: God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. Of these four perfect things, God (Mt. 1:21), Christ (Jn. 1:1-4) and the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4) have already come by the time Paul wrote 1 Corinthians.

The only thing left to come is the “perfect law of liberty” (Jas. 1:25). Paul is saying that when the perfect law of liberty is completed (perfected) that which is partial (prophecy, tongue-speaking and miraculous knowledge) will end. The simple truth is the Bible does not teach miracles still exist today.

MsLimpet: Yes, this is basically what I understood perfect to mean: complete.
