I know a lot of Christian Goths. They are no different than anyone else.
I use to be called a "Goth" because of how I dressed. Growing up I hated pretty/bright colors. I was to "boyish" to like them lol.
Plus I was a skater, I liked BMX and I rode dirtbikes. So bright colors just wasn't my thing.
Now I get called a country girl. Ha it's funny how people try so hard to label others.
I guess also for some ppl the idea of Goth includes piercings and/or tattoos; for others, not necessarily.

Seems to me also that there is a bit of Renaissance Fair-type reenactments that might be called Gothic in style.

I guess you and your wife are not into Christian gothic/ tattoos/piercings?

Seems to me that as a style or as a whole series of style variations it's quite subjective often, and in some cases rather mild also.
Don't do it ourselves but I have family members that are, and I have been in plenty of debates to defend them do to how they look.

Well, a lot of Christians have faith based tattoos, extra piercings, etc., some of which might be classified as vaguely Gothic and some of it not. Definitionally I find it a bit fuzzy myself.

Well, Paul says of the Lord Jesus: 'All the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him, Amen, to the glory of God by us' (2 Corinthians 1.20).

Anyway, I think it's good to be a bit cautious about getting pierced/tattooed until one is really sure about being willing to live with the result.

I look at it as Jesus was peierced when he was on cross! He suffered for us! With that said I would say enough said. But on the contrary, stuff like that just shows who the person is. I wouldn't exspect a secular person that works in a office with no tattoos or pericings to walk up to me and ask about God, tho it has happened and I was condemned by them for not being like them with no tats or peeicings. What I do exspect is a Satanist, wiccan, atheist, loose of hope and faith, suicidal, emotional wrecked, abused, assualted people to walk up to me and ask who God is and where can they find real HOPE, real FAITH, so on so forth!

When it comes to stuff like this some people are just old fashion and want to cling to the old testament scriptures, and refuse to see that Jesus made amendments or changes to it. So I would say that just like the new testament speaks, all things are acceptable now as long as you don't let it control your life. If God is your first most drive in your life than what you do will be fine.

Some folk are so old fashioned that they even try to rationalize a spiritual 'reason' for not liking double pierced ears, whereas this is more to do with personal subjectivity than Biblical exegesis.

When it comes to tattoos - especially with faith based designs - it seems that pragmatism has a lot to do with it for the Christians that have them: they are proven effective as conversation-starters: Christian fish symbol <><, Bible reference, etc.

Just like every thing else they use only part of the bible to justify their view point or to say how they are right and we are wrong. Which is why there is division in the Church. They only read the parts they like and throw out the rest.

Yes, well leaving out parts of the Bible they don't find convenient is not only a liberal problem, but also a hyper-conservative one.

If one's wife or daughter gets extra piercings or if Christians get faith based tattoos, it's really not anyone else's business. Romans 14 applies here, I think.

Are you saying that to me? If so I use the entire bible to get my point across I use scriptures or stories from the bible. Once saved from the bottomless pit Idc if you have a multitude of tats and pericings, we are outcasted by the church. Just because I am not organized relgious doesn't mean I throw rest of bible out more than you know use the entire bible.

Yes this is one of many things. My hair use to be so long it went down to my waist in the back, and I use to get harked at a lot by others saying that it was wrong. But the bible says in 1 Cor. 11:16 that there is no such custom in the church. New day versions have confused people though by perverting the word and changing no such to no other to get them to believe in their view that only clean and nicely dressed are of God. Just like some try to teach that if you are not successful, or financially well off then you are not truly of Gods people either.

Oh I was making a general point in response to kennethcaldwell's post. Sounds like you yourself do a lot of Bible study.

Plenty of people have piercings and tattoos in any case.

We are just showing how people miss use the bible to cast out people who do not fit their views. We are not saying you don't use the whole bible, we defend you cause it is about the heart not appearances.

Black tribal can be gothic but a majority of it is not. True gothic Christian or not, have tattoos of stories on them
Yes, I'm sure that some tattoos fit more than one definition at the same time.

99% of my tattoos have true meaning behind them.
I guess much of the idea of faith based tattoos is their use in speaking testimony by the wearer.

You must have gotten quite a few tattoos already.

5-6 tattoos and 2 need cover ups so those don't count in the 5 or 6.
I was not in the church when I got any of my tats. Everything on me has a story
