He! I would like to hear your opinion of secular music. For example, The imagine Dragons, Demons. I'm finding it really difficult to take borders. (Could you pray for me?) What do you think? The lyrics of Demons:

When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
Are all made of gold

When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood’s run stale

I want to hide the truth
I want to shelter you
But with the beast inside
There’s nowhere we can hide

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide

When the curtains call
Is the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl

So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you made

Don’t want to let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don’t want to hide the truth

They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go

Your eyes, they shine so bright
I want to save their light
I can't escape this now
Unless you show me how

I don't want that the Devil has power on me. I don't want that the music has badinfluence on me. What would you do, would you turn off the radio when this song is playing? I'm waiting for your comment,

Blessings,
Channa

Hmm... I've never heard this song, but reading the lyrics I've seen Christian songs similar to this except they talk about overcoming it with God's help. If the overall message of the song is positive, then I don't see a problem with it. I'm probably not the best person to offer advice to you on this. :p If it is weighing on your soul that this isn't pleasing to God, that's probably an indication it's not. I would find other music. I mean there's plenty of awesome music out there. I don't "only" listen to Christian music. But use discernment because there is a lot of disgusting music out there.

Imagine Dragons(not Demons) are a pretty fantastic band. But if you can't handle it, just dont listen to it.

There was a time I was fan of some who were engaged with DEMONS...

I avoid those songs that are too HOT or sexy like Beyonce.

I do hate I cannot stop my ears from listening SALSA, EROTIC SALSA, and all the trash music spread on the street I walk by (I wish I had a swicht to tunr my ears in MUTE MODE).

If you listen too much music, if U badly need it, that´s an addition or alienation. Seek some medical help and CURE. :)

It's all about what the song speaks to you personally. The fact of the matter is God has saved you, that supersedes anything that the world tries to drag you down with.

As stated before, if the music makes you feel bad, kick it.

i have so much fun listening to dance music, it makes me joyful and helps me to engage with God........this one reminds me of Romans 5:5b "the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
I got so much love to give!!!!!!!! xD

Romans 8, let the Holy Spirit guide you, and you won't go wrong..........but as others have said, if your conscience won't allow you to listen to some songs, then give them up :)

Secular music would include anything that has nothing to do with gods or religions. Happy Birthday and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star would also be considered secular. So be careful when throwing the word around.

When I listen to the song Demons, I personally don't feel he's referring to actual demons. I believe demons is being used to refer to all the wrong he's hiding inside or all the horrible thoughts he has. But, he could very well be referring to actual demons. That's the fascinating thing about music, it's usually vague enough in which you can't exactly tell what a song is about. This is often done to keep music more mysterious, or more easy to relate to.

You should also keep in mind that you don't have to listen to music that reflects your personality or even your personal beliefs or values. For example, I enjoy listening to Ain't No Rest For The Wicked, a song about the unfortunate need to do bad as a means of survival. Obviously, I don't hold these to be morally acceptable, nor do I think the song is promoting such actions. It paints an image, like a story, and it has fun playing with your emotions, you fantasies. It's like reading Dracula, of course it's wrong to kill innocent people and to kidnap women! But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a good story! And, honestly, I highly doubt Imagine Dragons is trying to promote bad behavior with their song Demons. I believe they're just creating a story, of sorts, through their music.

So don't worry too much about the music. If it really bothers you, as others have mentioned before, don't listen to it. But, personally, I believe it's just entertainment.

I see categories as secular etc putting dividing walls that don't really exist, sure it's good to have Christians making music, as they have that anointing from God.
But God has spoken through a donkey, so why not unbelievers...............
