you left out part of the scripture.

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Proverbs 30:4
Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know!

No, that is the same quote, just a different translation. NASB

Acts 2:8-11 is not talking about every nation and tribe going against the city of David.

Acts 2:14-20
King James Version (KJV)
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

Did this happen?
Rev. 11:15: “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

If this took place then everything prior to this took place, lets see if this is true or not.
The use of the title "Son of Man" refers to the (Parousia) Second Coming.’ The phrase, indicates His humanity, a visible, personal Coming is to take place, which was not seen at the destruction of Jerusalem.

Daniel 7:27: “Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.”

When the real kingdom comes Christ is present on earth and we serve him

Daniel 7:21-22: “I was watching; and the same horn (little horn) was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.”

Daniel 7:13-14 "I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.”

Again, I ask is He coming or going in this verse. Reread it. To us He is going. To God He is coming. "One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.

I do not want to fight. I would like to edify and be edified. When I take all scripture into account (the ones that I believe I understand) I believe that pretty much everything was fulfilled in Jesus or immediately after. This is something that we can calmly discuss.

I do not believe the End Times prophecies occured in 70 AD. Not too sure how so many can believe in that considerring we're still walking the planet in 2014 AD. Good points made in the OP, and I agree with that premise. Not sure what a preterist is though.

Did you know that the phrase "second coming" is not in the bible?
Acts 1:9-11 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

It may not say second coming, But it says he will come again, in like manner

Do you think Jesus is coming or going in these verses?

Daniel 7:13-14

[SUP]13 [/SUP]“I kept looking in the night visions,
And behold, with the clouds of heaven
One like a Son of Man was coming,
And He came up to the Ancient of Days
And was presented before Him.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]“And to Him was given dominion,
Glory and a kingdom,
That all the peoples, nations and men of every language
Might serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
Which will not pass away;
And His kingdom is one
Which will not be destroyed.

Coming. It is when he destroys the beast (4th empire) casts him and the false prophet into the lake of fire, Cast satan into the bottomless pit. And sets up his kingdom, to rule for 1000 years.

Speaking of Daniel. In 70 AD Rome was in power and controlled most of the known world. If you look at the statue that Daniel described to Nebuchadnezzar, Rome is the legs of Iron. The gold head was Babylon, next were the Medes and Persians, then Greece and now Rome the legs of Iron. The feet that are partly clay and Iron, that kingdom has not appeared as of yet, though it is in the making at present. This is the Kingdom that the Stone hit and destroyed the statue, so clearly this did not happen in 70 AD.

Also, Jesus is not sitting on the throne in Jerusalem and the Temple has not been rebuilt.

I would also like to add ( I know a lot of people do not believe in a pretrib and I am not trying to stir things up) the rapture hasn't happened yet ( i know some believe this happens at the second coming). But Jesus said I come as a thief in the night. Now a thief doesn't come with Trumpets and the heavens opened up and the stars falling and the powers of heaven being shaken. That's my take on things.

Daniel 9:27 “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate."

The one signs the covenant also stops it, Daniel gives us further details into this event.

Daniel 11:31: “And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.”

Daniel 12:11: "And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.”

Three times Daniel speaks of the sacrifices being ended and an abomination that makes desolate. And it is they who will be desolate. (The abomination is directly related to the daily sacrifices and they are directly related to the temple which can only be built in Jerusalem which is in Israel.

Jesus refers to Daniel "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. "Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.” (Matt 24:15-17)

They leave Jerusalem in the middle of the tribulation, not the end (Dan 9:27). So Preterism’s timing of 70 AD does not fit. Matthew 24:15 refers to Revelation 12; the woman, Israel, is fleeing to a place the Bible calls the wilderness. From passages such as Micah 2:12, this wilderness is in the land of Edom, the city of Petra. In 70 AD they fled to a different place then what the Bible says. They fled to Pela in 70 AD not to Petra (Bozrah) in southern Jordan.

It's very simple.

John wrote his gospel post AD 70 (most likely closer to 100). John expects Christ is yet to return Therefore, Christ did not return in AD 70. And let's not even get started about Revelation.

Indeed and good post! Just what's written in Revelation alone I think is enough to say with confidence that the world didn't end in 70 AD lol.

John 3:13

King James Version (KJV)
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

John 6:38

King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]38 [/SUP]For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

He came down from Heaven for us.
My point was that Enoch and Elijah ascended, didn't they? Who were they? What do we take from that? Did they not go all the way up or did Jesus come before as other men? These are not questions to get upset about, I am just curious about what God is telling us. I do not readily accept a man's interpretation of the bible without checking it first. I have yet to see a man's interpretation that holds up through all scripture. We are missing something and I would like to know what it is. I am sorry if that cause some to get upset, but it will not stop me from searching and discussing. I believe, at this time, that the earthly kingdom (which extends into the heavenly kingdom) is the church - the new Jerusalem.

Brother, Jesus descended from heaven and ascended to heaven, something no man besides the Christ has done in history. Enoch and Elijah were not for they were taken!

Actually fairly interesting point of ponderance indeed you bring forth by the way. Let's examine Enoch and Elijah's last days and the manner described that they left.

Enoch (Genesis 5:18-24)

[SUP]18 [/SUP]And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
[SUP]20 [/SUP]And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
[SUP]22 [/SUP]And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Elijah (2 Kings 2)

2 And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the Lord hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

(heh this reminds me I need to make an epic bible study topic on Elisha as I promised!)

Indeed and good post! Just what's written in Revelation alone I think is enough to say with confidence that the world didn't end in 70 AD lol.
Who said that the world ended? He said the end of the age. What is a time, times, and half a time? One way or another, time is divided into parts - ends of ages! The destruction of the Temple was a final stage in stopping the animal sacrifices that were commanded in the old testament. The Jews were also spread across the planet, which resulted in destroying the pure blood line of the Levites (No priests). Do you think this was coincidence. No, it was from God so that the Jews could not do sacrifices.

Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.

Context:
43 But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel,
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are Mine!
[SUP]2 [/SUP]“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]“For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I have given Egypt as your ransom,
Cush and Seba in your place.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]“Since you are precious in My sight,
Since you are honored and I love you,
I will give other men in your place and other peoples in exchange for your life.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]“Do not fear, for I am with you;
I will bring your offspring from the east,
And gather you from the west.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]“I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’
And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’
Bring My sons from afar
And My daughters from the ends of the earth,
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Everyone who is called by My name,
And whom I have created for My glory,
Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”[SUP]8 [/SUP]Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes,
And the deaf, even though they have ears.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]All the nations have gathered together
So that the peoples may be assembled.
Who among them can declare this
And proclaim to us the former things?
Let them present their witnesses that they may be justified,
Or let them hear and say, “It is true.”
[SUP]10 [/SUP]“You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“And My servant whom I have chosen,
So that you may know and believe Me
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
And there will be none after Me.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]“I, even I, am the Lord,
And there is no savior besides Me.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]“It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed,
And there was no strange god among you;
So you are My witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“And I am God.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]“Even from eternity I am He,
And there is none who can deliver out of My hand;
I act and who can reverse it?”

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Thus says the Lord your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel,
“For your sake I have sent to Babylon,
And will bring them all down as fugitives,
Even the Chaldeans, into the ships in which they rejoice.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]“I am the Lord, your Holy One,
The Creator of Israel, your King.”

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Thus says the Lord,
Who makes a way through the sea
And a path through the mighty waters,
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Who brings forth the chariot and the horse,
The army and the mighty man
(They will lie down together and not rise again;
They have been quenched and extinguished like a wick):
[SUP]18 [/SUP]“Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]“Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]“The beasts of the field will glorify Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I have given waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My chosen people.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]“The people whom I formed for Myself
Will declare My praise.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]“Yet you have not called on Me, O Jacob;
But you have become weary of Me, O Israel.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]“You have not brought to Me the sheep of your burnt offerings,
Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices.
I have not burdened you with offerings,
Nor wearied you with incense.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]“You have bought Me not sweet cane with money,
Nor have you filled Me with the fat of your sacrifices;
Rather you have burdened Me with your sins,
You have wearied Me with your iniquities.

[SUP]25 [/SUP]“I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake,
And I will not remember your sins.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]“Put Me in remembrance, let us argue our case together;
State your cause, that you may be proved right.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]“Your first forefather sinned,
And your spokesmen have transgressed against Me.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]“So I will pollute the princes of the sanctuary,
And I will consign Jacob to the ban and Israel to revilement.

Brother, Jesus descended from heaven and ascended to heaven, something no man besides the Christ has done in history. Enoch and Elijah were not for they were taken!
Did you read what Jesus said, No one has ascended except the Son of Man? I am not trying to go against God, I assure you. I have a lot more fear and reverence for God than man. I sincerely want to know whatever it is that God wants me to know.

I want to clarify here, because typing does not show emotion, that I am not mad or trying to be aggressive/mean toward you. And I don't mind learning alongside men, but I would rather be taught by God, as Paul was. I need to deny self a lot more before He will teach me more though, I think.

Who makes a way through the sea
And a path through the mighty waters,
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Who brings forth the chariot and the horse,
The army and the mighty man
(They will lie down together and not rise again;
They have been quenched and extinguished like a wick):
[SUP]18 [/SUP]“Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]“Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;

[SUP]22 [/SUP]“Yet you have not called on Me, O Jacob;
But you have become weary of Me, O Israel.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]“You have not brought to Me the sheep of your burnt offerings,
Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices.
I have not burdened you with offerings,
Nor wearied you with incense.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]“You have bought Me not sweet cane with money,
Nor have you filled Me with the fat of your sacrifices;
Rather you have burdened Me with your sins,
You have wearied Me with your iniquities.

[SUP]25 [/SUP]“I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake,
And I will not remember your sins.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]“Put Me in remembrance, let us argue our case together;
Words that have passed true throughout time and shall pass true in time. Trully Isaiah was a prophet. We shall see what becomes of our time indeed.
